Through commentary on four clinical vignettes, this article focuses on the anthropological transformations taking place in contemporary society, underlining their differences from the anthropologies of reference of the founding fathers of psychoanalysis. Hybridization between man and machine and the speeding up and alteration of communications which the new technologies promote are now crucial issues facing psychoanalysis. Social media and a 24/7 internet connection have produced deep changes in the way people live and perceive relationships. Analytical practice is not exempt from such issues, which can be particularly insidious, often subtle and difficult to recognize, or even underestimated or ignored by psychoanalysts outright, in order to preserve the illusion of a complete understanding of what unfolds in the analytical space. The authors suggest that such transformations, by (partially) rendering inadequate the theoretical and technical corpus on which the various depth psychologies are founded, require personal engagement on the part of psychoanalysts in the search for new strategies to treat their patients, with the consequent abandonment of the 'certainties' offered by sclerotic models of clinical procedure.

In the present digital scenario, the explosion of Internet of Things (IoT) devices makes massive volumes of high-dimensional data, presenting significant data and privacy security challenges. As IoT networks enlarge, certifying sensitive data privacy while still employing data analytics authority is vital. In the period of big data, statistical learning has seen fast progressions in methodological practical and innovation applications.

Continuous microenvironment modulation is an ongoing challenge in wound dressing, which includes excessive exudate absorption, oxygen delivery, bacterial inhibition and angiogenesis. Herein, we developed an construction strategy to fabricate a self-retaining double-layered wound dressing, where the top layer precursor was composed of Ca-containing polyvinyl butyral (PVB) solution dispersed with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) particles, and the bottom one consisted of sodium alginate (Alg) solution blended with Ag-doped mesoporous bioactive glass powders (Ag-MBG). When in use, both precursors were simultaneously squeezed out from the twin nozzles connected to the individual chambers of a twin-chambered syringe, whereby Ca in the top layer rapidly migrated downwards to crosslink Alg in the bottom layer, leading to the formation of an Alg/Ag-MBG (AA) functional hydrogel for filling an irregular wound.

Noninvasive evaluations of hormones can contribute to the assessment of health and welfare of animals. Variations in insulin levels and sensitivity, for example, have been linked to health concerns in non-human and human primates including insulin resistance, diabetes, and heart disease, the leading cause of death in zoo-housed gorillas. Few published studies have assessed insulin concentrations in western lowland gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla), and all did so using serum.

Timely and accurate detection of trace mycotoxins in agricultural products and food is significant for ensuring food safety and public health. Herein, a deep learning-assisted and entropy-driven catalysis (EDC)-Argonaute powered fluorescence single-particle aptasensing platform was developed for ultrasensitive detection of fumonisin B (FB) using single-stranded DNA modified with biotin and red fluorescence-encoded microspheres as a signal probe and streptavidin-conjugated magnetic beads as separation carriers. The binding of aptamer with FB releases the trigger sequence to mediate EDC cycle to produce numerous 5'-phosphorylated output sequences, which can be used as the guide DNA to activate downstream Argonaute (Ago) for cleaving the signal probe, resulting in increased number of fluorescence microspheres remaining in the final reaction supernatant after magnetic separation.

Background: Little is known about the practices and resources employed by general practitioners (GPs) in Singapore to manage late-life depression. As the country is stepping up its efforts to promote collaborative care across community mental health and geriatric care, understanding GPs' current practices when managing late-life depression appears timely.

Methods: This qualitative descriptive study explored the perspectives on late-life depression of 28 private GPs practicing in Singapore through online semi-structured group and individual interviews.
