Density functional theory (DFT) was employed to study the dissolution mechanisms of α-cyclodextrin and chitobiose in 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium acetate ([Emim][OAc]). Geometrical analysis of the studied complexes indicated that both anion and cation in ionic liquid interacting withα-cyclodextrin and chitobiose contributed to the dissolution reaction. Intermolecular interactions in the complexes were identified as non-covalent interactions, such as hydrogen bonds, van der Waals interactions and repulsions, which were considered as the driving force of dissolution. Among them, hydrogen bonding interactions played a dominant role, which was further visualized in the real space by combination of atoms in molecules (AIM) and reduced density gradient (RDG) techniques. The nature of intermolecular orbital interactions was characterized using natural bond orbital (NBO) theory.

Protons (H+) with the smallest size and fastest redox kinetics are regarded as competitive charge carriers in the booming Zn-organic batteries (ZOBs). Developing new H+-storage organic cathode materials with multiple ultralow-energy-barrier protophilic sites and super electron delocalization routes to propel superior ZOBs is crucial but still challenging. Here we design multiple protophilic redox-active reticular organic skeletons (ROSs) for activating better proton storage, triggered by intermolecular H-bonding and π-π stacking interactions between 2,6-diaminoanthraquinone and 2,4,6-triformylphloroglucinol nanofibrous polymer.

Intranasal drug delivery is a promising non-invasive method for administering both local and systemic medications. While previous studies have extensively investigated the effects of particle size, airflow dynamics, and deposition locations on deposition efficiency, they have not focused on the thickness of deposited particles, which can significantly affect drug dissolution, absorption and therapeutic efficacy. This study investigates the deposition patterns of dry powder particles within the nasal airway, specifically examining how factors such as flow rates, particle size, and particle cohesiveness influence deposition patterns and their thickness.

In recent years, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) with their outstanding solubilization properties have emerged as strong candidates for oral enabling formulations of poorly soluble drugs. This study explores the use of drug-based therapeutic DESs (THEDESs) to solubilize a poorly soluble compound with the aim of providing a fixed-dose combination of two complementary therapeutic agents. Specifically, potential anticancer effects of ibuprofen (IBU) are harnessed in a novel type of THEDES to dissolve higher amounts of abiraterone acetate (AbAc), an antitumor agent.

Objectives: The dynamics of monosodium urate (MSU) crystal changes across a range of serum urate concentrations in people with gout are unknown. This study aimed to systematically examine the relationship between serum urate and changes in dual-energy CT (DECT) urate volume in people with gout and stable serum urate concentrations.
Methods: Individual participant data were analysed from three studies of people with gout.
