Transitions between different charge density wave (CDW) states in quasi-two-dimensional materials may be accompanied also by changes in the inter-layer stacking of the CDW. Using MeV ultrafast electron diffraction, the out-of-plane stacking order dynamics in the quasi-two-dimensional dichalcogenide 1-TaS is investigated for the first time. From the intensity of the CDW satellites aligned around the commensurate  = 1/6 characteristic stacking order, it is found out that this phase disappears with a 0.3 ps time constant. Simultaneously, in the same experiment, the emergence of the incommensurate phase, with a slightly slower 2.0 ps time constant, is determined from the intensity of the CDW satellites aligned around the incommensurate  = 1/3 characteristic stacking order. These results might be of relevance in understanding the metallic character of the laser-induced metastable "hidden" state recently discovered in this compound.

The highest sheet symmetry form of graphyne, with one triple bond between each neighboring hexagon in graphene, irreversibly transforms exothermically at ambient pressure and low temperatures into a nongraphitic, planar-sheet, zero-bandgap phase consisting of intrasheet-bonded sp carbons. The synthesis of this sp carbon phase is demonstrated, and other carbon phases are described for possible future synthesis from graphyne without breaking graphyne bonds. While measurements and theory indicate that the reacting graphyne becomes nonplanar because of sheet wrinkling produced by dimensional mismatch between reacted and nonreacted sheet regions, sheet planarity is regained when the reaction is complete.

After cyclo-pentazolate anion, a 5/6 fused structure of N is constructed, and four novel nitrogen-rich ionic compounds are assembled on its basis. The results of the quantum calculations revealed an uneven distribution of electrons on cyclo-N , with significant charge density near the N5/N9 atoms and an ADCH charge of -0.425.

The study reports solid-state ceramic supercapacitors (SSCs) assembled using a novel composite electrolyte based on Li ion conducting perovskite-type LLTO (LiLaTiO) and an ionic liquid (EMIM BF). Small amounts of various ionic liquids (ILs) were added to LLTO to enhance the ionic conductivity and improve electrode compatibility. The optimal composition with approximately ∼6 wt% EMIM BF in LLTO exhibited a high ionic conductivity of around ∼10 Ω cm at room temperature, nearly three orders of magnitude higher than that of the pristine LLTO.

The extensive application of cement kiln industry results in substantial stack gas emissions, posing a potential risk of discharging organic pollutants. Cement industry is not considered as a primary contributor to persistent organic pollutants like polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PCDD/Fs), owing to its extremely low emission factor. However, knowledge on the previously unrecognized chemicals that may possess higher emission factors from cement industry is lacking.

- Brain tumors (BT), both benign and malignant, pose a substantial impact on human health and need precise and early detection for successful treatment. Analysing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) image is a common method for BT diagnosis and segmentation, yet misdiagnoses yield effective medical responses, impacting patient survival rates. Recent technological advancements have popularized deep learning-based medical image analysis, leveraging transfer learning to reuse pre-trained models for various applications.
