Published: May 2017

Three new indolediterpenoids, namely, 22-hydroxylshearinine F (), 6-hydroxylpaspalinine (), and 7--acetylemindole SB (), along with eight related known analogs (-), were isolated from the sea-anemone-derived fungus sp. AS-79. The structures and relative configurations of these compounds were determined by a detailed interpretation of the spectroscopic data, and their absolute configurations were determined by ECD calculations ( and ) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (). Some of these compounds exhibited prominent activity against aquatic and human pathogenic microbes.

Marine natural products play an important role in biopesticides. Seven new secondary metabolites with different structural classes, including two cycloheptapeptides, scortide A (1) and scortide B (2), two 19-nor-diterpenoids, talascortene H (3) and talascortene I (4), two diterpenoid acids, talascortene J (5) and talascortene K (6), and one triterpenoid, talascortene L (7) were isolated and identified from the sea-anemone-derived endozoic fungus Talaromyces scorteus AS-242. Their structures were comprehensively assigned by spectroscopic data analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, tandem mass spectrometry, and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations.

Institute of Fisheries Science, College of Life Science, National Taiwan University, Taipei 106, Taiwan. Electronic address:

In this study, preliminary field-sampling of bioactive fungal strains and bioassay-guided selection were conducted. A number of fungal strains were isolated from sea anemones along the northeastern coast of Badouzi, Keelung, Taiwan. Among them, Arthrinium arundinis MA30 showed significant anti-inflammatory activity and was thus selected for further chemical investigation.

Eight new diterpenoid acids, namely, talascortenes A-G (-) and 5α,9β-dihydroxyisocupressic acid (), with four different carbon skeletons, were isolated and identified from the endozoic fungal strain AS-242 that was obtained from the inner fresh tissue of a deep sea sp. sea anemone. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by detailed interpretation of NMR and mass spectrometric data.

Key Laboratory of Marine Drugs, The Ministry of Education of China, School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ocean University of China, Qingdao 266003, People's Republic of China.

Three new 14-membered resorcylic acid lactones, cochliomycins D-F, 1-3, and eight known analogues, 4-11, were isolated from the sea anemone-derived fungus Cochliobolus lunatus. Compounds 1-4 are diastereomers differing from each other by the absolute configurations of the 4',5'-diol chiral centers. The absolute configurations of 1-4 were established by the CD exciton chirality method and TDDFT ECD calculations.
