In France, the practice of laboratory medicine has, over the past ten years or so, met with a certain amount of disenchantment from medical students. Despite its intricacy and importance to healthcare, the world of the clinical laboratory lacks visibility in medical studies. While other phenomena can explain this disenchantment, our belief in the importance of promoting greater visibility of laboratory medicine in medical studies led us to examine for this article the images and symbols associated with the profession, based on a semiotic analysis.

Accurate estimates of the shear and Stoneley wave transit times are important for seismic analysis, rock mechanics, and reservoir characterization. These parameters are typically obtained from dipole shear sonic imager (DSI) logs and are instrumental in determining the mechanical properties of formations. However, DSI log may contain inconsistent and missing data caused by various factors, such as salt layers and spike phenomenon, which can cause difficulties in analyzing and interpreting log data.

This study investigates utilization of machine learning for the regression task of predicting the size of PLGA (Poly lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles. Various inputs including category and numeric were considered for building the model to predict the optimum conditions for preparation of nanosized PLGA particles for drug delivery applications. The proposed methodology employs Leave-One-Out (LOO) for categorical feature transformation, Local Outlier Factor (LOF) for outlier detection, and Bat Optimization Algorithm (BA) for hyperparameter optimization.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of an image-free navigation system and to investigate the effect of the postoperative coronal lower limb alignment and implant alignment on clinical outcomes following mechanically aligned (MA)-total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study, 180 primary cemented posterior-stabilized TKAs were performed using an image-free navigation system. Patients were divided into groups based on their postoperative hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA; a neutral HKA group [0 ± 3°] and an outlier group [<-3° or > 3°]), lateral distal femoral angle (LDFA; a neutral LDFA group [90 ± 3°] and an outlier group [< 87° or > 93°]), and medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA; a neutral MPTA group [90 ± 3°] and an outlier group [< 87° or > 93°]).
