The aggregation of (pro)chiral/achiral molecules into crystalline structures at interfaces forms conglomerates, racemates, and solid solutions, comparable to known bulk phases. Scanning tunneling microscopy and Monte Carlo simulations were employed to uncover a distinct racemic phase, expressing 1D disordered chiral sorting through random tiling in surface-confined supramolecularly assembled achiral 4,4''-diethynyl-1,1':4',1''-terphenyl molecules. The configurational entropy of the 1D disordered racemic tiling phase was verified by analytical modeling, and found to lie between that of a perfectly ordered 2D racemate and a racemic solid solution.

We show that spontaneous density segregation in dense systems of aligning circle swimmers is a condensation phenomenon at odds with the phase separation scenarios usually observed in two-dimensional active matter. The condensates, which take the form of vortices or rotating polar packets, can absorb a finite fraction of the particles in the system, and keep a finite or slowly growing size as their mass increases. Our results are obtained both at particle and continuous levels.

We investigate the pattern dynamics of the one-dimensional nonreciprocal Swift-Hohenberg model. Characteristic spatiotemporal patterns such as disordered, aligned, swap, chiral-swap, and chiral phases emerge depending on the parameters. We classify the characteristic spatiotemporal patterns obtained in numerical simulation by focusing on the spatiotemporal Fourier spectrum of the order parameters.

The emerging field of photonic topological insulators offers promising platforms for high-performance optical communication, computing, and sensing. However, conventional photonic topological insulator designs typically operate within the diffraction limit due to their dielectric nature. This limitation imposes constraints on device miniaturization, reduces light-matter interaction, and decreases overall device sensitivity.

Intrinsically disordered proteins can bind via the formation of highly disordered protein complexes without the formation of three-dimensional structure. Most naturally occurring proteins are levorotatory (L)-that is, made up only of L-amino acids-imprinting molecular structure and communication with stereochemistry. By contrast, their mirror-image dextrorotatory (D)-amino acids are rare in nature.
