Background: Failed total hip arthroplasty (THA) caused by mechanically assisted crevice corrosion (MACC) has serious consequences-notably, adverse local tissue reactions. Metal artifact reduction sequence (MARS) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to evaluate failed THA for other reasons but has not been assessed for the analysis of cases of MACC in the setting of metal-on-polyethylene arthroplasties.
Methods: We examined the correlation between preoperative MARS MRI and surgical findings in a cohort of 20 consecutive patients undergoing revision THA for symptomatic MACC without other associated orthopedic diagnoses. Surgical findings included soft tissue and bone evaluation, presence and location of fluid, abductor disruption, composite tissue damage grade, and prosthesis trunnion damage at the time of revision.
Results: MARS MRI complex synovitis, thickened pseudocapsule, and extra-articular fluid extension each strongly correlated with both the soft-tissue damage grade and trunnion damage noted at surgery. Bone marrow edema was also found to strongly correlate with bone necrosis intraoperatively.
Conclusion: MARS MRI is an excellent diagnostic tool for evaluation of patients with elevated serum Co after metal-on-polyethylene THA. Patients with complex synovitis, a thick pseudocapsule, bone marrow edema, and extra-articular fluid should strongly consider revision surgery.

Background: The presented study identified the appropriate ocrelizumab dosing regimen for patients with pediatric-onset multiple sclerosis (POMS).
Methods: Patients with POMS aged 10-17 years were enrolled into cohort 1 (body weight [BW] < 40 kg, ocrelizumab 300 mg) and cohort 2 (BW ≥ 40 kg, ocrelizumab 600 mg) during a 24-week dose-exploration period (DEP), followed by an optional ocrelizumab (given every 24 weeks) extension period.
Primary Endpoints: pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics (CD19 B-cell count); secondary endpoint: safety; exploratory endpoints: MRI activity, protocol-defined relapses, Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score change.

Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) are small, hypointense hemosiderin deposits in the brain measuring 2-10 mm in diameter. As one of the important biomarkers of small vessel disease, they have been associated with various neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases. Hence, automated detection, and subsequent extraction of clinically useful metrics (e.

Paleoneurology reconstructs the evolutionary history of nervous systems through direct observations from the fossil record and comparative data from extant species. Although this approach can provide direct evidence of phylogenetic links among species, it is constrained by the availability and quality of data that can be gleaned from the fossil record. Here, we sought to translate brain component relationships in a sample of extant Carnivora to make inferences about brain structure in fossil species.

Background: To determine outcomes of MRI-assisted radiosurgery (MARS) for salvage brachytherapy using the radioisotope Pd after various upfront treatments including surgery, external beam radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data for patients who underwent salvage MARS for intraprostatic lesions or prostate bed recurrences from 2016 to 2022. Biochemical recurrence, prostate cancer-specific, and overall survival, and the cumulative incidences of toxicities, were determined by Kaplan-Meier estimates.

Dyslexia is a common and partially heritable condition that affects reading ability. In a study of up to 35,231 adults, we explored the structural brain correlates of genetic disposition to dyslexia. Individual dyslexia-disposing genetic variants showed distinct patterns of association with brain structure.
