Retinoblastoma is the most common intraocular malignancy basically occurs among children below five. Certain ocular treatments such as surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy are more likely to cause side effects. Here, a rapid method of synthesising silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from the brown seaweed and its cytotoxic efficacy against the retinoblastoma Y79 cell lines was studied. The AgNPs synthesis was determined by Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and was further characterised by X-ray diffraction, High-resolution transmission electron microscopy, , Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectrum and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy techniques. The synthesised AgNPs were found to be very stable and finely dispersed. The total phenolic content of the synthesised AgNPs was estimated at 43±2.52 mg/g gallic acid equivalent and the nanoparticles exhibited good scavenging activity analysed by 2, 2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) assay. Moreover, cytotoxicity of synthesised AgNPs against retinoblastoma Y79 cell lines showed a dose-dependent response with an inhibitory concentration (IC) of 10.5 µg/mL. These results suggest that AgNPs could be a promising anticancer agent with enhanced activity in ocular treatment.

The current research discusses polymer conjugation, formulation development, and evaluation of sorafenib-loaded polymeric nanomicelles of conjugated soluplus (solu-tin) and polymeric mixed nanomicelles of conjugated soluplus (solu-tin) with conjugated poloxamer 188 (polo-tin) for site-specific posterior segment delivery to the retina in managing retinoblastoma. Firstly, the soluplus and poloxamer 188 were conjugated with biotin by Fischer esterification reaction and evaluated by FTIR and H NMR for confirmation of covalent bond formation involving the carboxyl group of biotin and hydroxyl group of polymers. Secondly, the sorafenib-loaded solu-tin nanomicelles and mixed nanomicelles of solu-tin with polo-tin were formulated by the thin film hydration method.

Carboplatin resistance in retinoblastoma, an aggressive pediatric intraocular tumor, remains a major clinical challenge in treatment. This study elucidates the role of T-type calcium channels in carboplatin resistance using human retinoblastoma Y79 cells. We generated carboplatin-resistant Y79 (Y79CR) cells and characterized their electrophysiological properties.

Background: Trichoderma species, known as biocontrol agents against plant diseases, contain diverse compounds, especially terpenoids, with various bioactivities. To facilitate the exploration of bioactive secondary metabolites of Trichoderma harzianum NTU2180, the OSMAC approach MS/MS molecular networking was applied in the current study.

Results: The feature-based molecular networking (FBMN) analysis showed that T.

Aim: To investigate the proliferation regulatory effect of cone-rod homeobox (CRX) in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and retinoblastoma (RB) cells to explore the potential application and side effect (oncogenic potential) of CRX-based gene therapy in RPE-based retinopathies.

Methods: Adult human retinal pigment epithelial (ARPE)-19 and human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE)-1 cells and Y79 RB cell were used in the study. Genetic manipulation was performed by lentivirus-based technology.

Recent advancements in aqueous humor (AH) cell-free DNA (cfDNA) genomics have opened new avenues for ex vivo molecular profiling of retinoblastoma (RB), the most common pediatric intraocular malignancy, where biopsy is typically prohibited. While these insights offer a genetic blueprint of the tumor, they lack multi-omic molecular phenotyping, which is essential for understanding the functional state. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), naturally present in AH, are promising by offering time-resolved phenotypic information.
