Purpose: To employ a validated survey for evaluation of quality of life (QoL) outcomes and associated factors in a US cohort of adult patients with acquired anophthalmia wearing a prosthesis.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed at a single, US academic institution of patients cared for between 2012 and 2021. The electronic medical record database was queried for adult patients with a history of evisceration or enucleation surgery and placement of an orbital implant.

Background And Objectives: Endophthalmitis is a type of eye inflammation that affects all structures of the eye and is generally of infectious origin. In cases recalcitrant to intravitreal treatment or posterior vitrectomy, evisceration or enucleation are the preferable options. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement has stood out as an implant in other areas of medicine due to its great stability and healing.

Background: Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus fumigatus are commonly involved in fungal endophthalmitis. However, other less pathogenic species of the genus are also causal agents of opportunistic infections. Aspergillus hiratsukae, a species within Aspergillus section Fumigati, is an uncommon fungus responsible for a few infectious cases worldwide.

Carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) is a rare condition involving an abnormal communication between the carotid artery and the cavernous sinus. We present a unique case of posttraumatic unilateral CCF initially misdiagnosed as a corneal melt with iris prolapse and orbital cellulitis. The patient, a 25-year-old male, experienced swelling, bleeding, and sudden vision loss in the affected eye following a fall.
