Objective: This study investigated parent report of adolescent behaviors and flourishing of adolescents with asthma from a nationwide sample.

Methods: A secondary analysis of the 2011-2012 National Survey of Children's Health was conducted. There were 2,880 youth with asthma in our sample and 25,841 without asthma between 13 and 17 years of age. Analyses examined flourishing among adolescents with and without asthma and the impact of adolescent arguing, bullying, and mood difficulties on adolescent flourishing for adolescents with asthma, while controlling for sex, age, and race.

Results: Findings indicated lower flourishing for youth with asthma compared to youth without asthma. Moreover, adolescents with asthma who experienced negative behaviors, such as arguing and bullying, and adolescents who were experiencing sad feelings had lower flourishing.

Conclusions: The results were consistent with literature, indicating that relatively poorer behavioral and emotional functioning is related to lower flourishing in adolescents with asthma. The results highlight the importance of screening for emotional functioning in adolescents and the need for further research to understand characteristics of adolescents related to their positive functioning.

Aim: We aim to assess association of DNA methylation (DNAm) at birth with total immunoglobulin E (IgE) trajectories from birth to late adolescence and whether such association is ethnicity-specific.

Methods: We examined the association of total IgE trajectories from birth to late adolescence with DNAm at birth in two independent birth cohorts, the Isle of wight birth cohort (IOWBC) in UK ( = 796; White) and the maternal and infant cohort study (MICS) in Taiwan ( = 60; Asian). Biological pathways and methylation quantitative trait loci (methQTL) for associated Cytosine-phosphate-Guanine sites were studied.

Premastication is a traditional feeding method whereby solids are pre-chewed by the mother or sometimes by other relatives and then given to the infant along with the oral microbiota. The aim of this study was to assess if premastication is known or performed among the German population as well as to evaluate the expectations regarding this feeding method, particularly in the context of allergy prevention. Two surveys about premastication were conducted.

Introduction: The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which caused Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), led to a global pandemic and public health crisis, which affected the physical health and mental well-being of Americans in every part of the country. Although the effect of the pandemic was ubiquitous, it has been more extensively studied in urban areas, which leads to an underscoring of the burden of COVID-19 in rural US. Health disparities adversely affect children in rural communities, each of which is unique and requires interventions based on regional needs.

Objectives: The prevalence of many psychiatric symptoms, including anxiety and depression, is higher in individuals born extremely preterm (EP) than in term-born individuals during childhood and adolescence. In this prospective study of adolescents born EP, we examined associations between early-life risk factors (prenatal maternal health conditions, socioeconomic and social factors) and anxiety and depression at 15 years of age.

Methods: We included 682 participants (53.
