Time-resolved Raman spectroscopy has proven useful for studying the formation of polarons in conjugated polymers, verifying the presence of reactive intermediates in photochemical reactions, investigating nonradiative transitions in the short lifetime of the photoexcited species, and resolving electron-phonon coupling strengths and exciton dissociation in crystalline materials. In this paper, we present an excited state transient Raman analysis protocol combining ab initio direct molecular dynamics, transient excited state Hessian, and excited state nonresonant Raman activities evaluations. Prototypical molecules are used as test cases, showing the evolution of the transient Raman signatures that follow electronic excitation. This protocol provides a direct route to assigning the vibrations implicated in the (photo)dynamics of several (photoactive) systems, complementary to the transient infrared analysis.

Partial oxidation of ethylene over silver catalysts produces more than 30 million metric tons of ethylene oxide (EO) annually. However, the form of active silver surfaces, reactive oxygen species, and dominant pathways of this chemical reaction remains controversial despite decades of research. Here, we use Raman spectroscopy and transient kinetic measurements to demonstrate that higher coverages of peroxide species, present only upon Ag oxide surfaces that form , correlate with greater selectivities to EO.

Water electrolysis is a green method of storing electrical energy in the chemical bonds of high-energy hydrogen gas (H). However, the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) requires a significant kinetic overpotential, limiting the electrolysis rate. Recently, plasmonic gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) have been introduced to improve charge transfer at the interface between the OER electrocatalysts and the electrolyte under light illumination.

Background And Objective: Migrant and refugee women, families, and their children can experience significant language, cultural, and psychosocial barriers to engage with child and family services. Integrated child and family health Hubs are increasingly promoted as a potential solution to address access barriers; however, there is scant literature on how to best implement them with migrant and refugee populations. Our aim was to explore with service providers and consumers the barriers, enablers, and experiences with Hubs and the resulting building blocks required for acceptable Hub implementation for migrant and refugee families.

This study employs first-principles molecular dynamics (FPMD) simulations combined with the Voronoi tessellation method to explore the microstructure, transport properties, electronic properties, and Raman spectra of the NaF-AlF-CaF/LiF/KF systems with varying cryolite ratios, additive types, and concentrations. The results indicate that Na, Ca, Li, and K exist in a free state in the molten salts, while Al forms complex ion groups in the form of [AlF] with F, and free F also exists in the molten salts. In the NaF-AlF-CaF system, the average Al-F distance is slightly shorter than that in the other two systems, while the Al-F coordination number is higher in NaF-AlF-LiF.
