We present a very rare case of paraneoplastic syndrome characterized by the unusual coexistence of a left ventricular apical thrombus and pulmonary embolism as the first manifestation of an unrecognized lung adenocarcinoma.

(1) Background: Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging has reported new cerebral ischemic lesions after left atrial appendage (LAA) closure in about one- third of patients. Stroke occurs predominantly periprocedurally. This study evaluated the characteristics of embolized debris captured by the SENTINEL cerebral embolic protection system in patients undergoing LAA closure; (2) Methods: Sixty filters of 30 consecutive patients undergoing LAA closure with the WATCHMAN FLX device were collected and captured debris was analyzed by histopathology and histomorphometry.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) and arterial thrombosis (AT) are distinct yet closely related pathological processes. While traditionally considered separate entities, accumulating evidence suggests that they share common risk factors, such as inflammation and endothelial dysfunction (ED). This review explores the parallels and differences between venous and arterial thrombosis, with particular attention to the role of unprovoked VTE and its potential links to atherosclerosis and systemic inflammation.

Hemophilia A (HA) is associated with FVIII coagulation insufficiency or inactivity leading to excessive bleeding. Elevated FVIII, on the contrary, is associated with thrombophilia, thrombosis, myocardial infarctions, and stroke. Active FVIII (aFVIII) uses its C2 domain to bind to blood cells' membranes, consequently carrying out its coagulative function.

Intraoperative hemodynamic monitoring is crucial for managing patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) due to their complex cardiovascular and pulmonary abnormalities. Traditionally, pulmonary artery catheterization (PAC) has been the standard for hemodynamic monitoring during OLT. However, the use of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has increased due to its real-time visualization of cardiac and vascular structures, which aids in managing hemodynamic instability during the three surgical phases of OLT: pre-anhepatic, anhepatic, and neo-hepatic.

APS is an autoimmune disorder characterized by thrombosis and pregnancy complications, primarily driven by aPLs such as LA, aCL and anti-β2 glycoprotein I (a-β2GPI). Despite advances in anticoagulation therapies, managing refractory APS cases remains challenging. Emerging therapies, including rituximab, eculizumab and HCQ, show potential in addressing the underlying mechanisms of APS.
