Background: Rules and regulations represent an aspect of psychiatric hospitalization about which little is known.
Study Purpose: To explore the perceptions of rules from the perspective of youth receiving hospital-based psychiatric services.
Design: Qualitative descriptive.
Methods: Perceptions of rules were elicited through semi-structured interviews with a convenience sample of six youth.
Results: Rules were perceived as governing virtually all aspects of everyday living in the hospital environment. Rules were used to structure daily activities, routines, and social interactions, and were embedded within clinical protocols and treatment plans. For each participant, "making sense" or "not making sense" were central themes through which rules were interpreted as being either therapeutic or oppressive. Rules that made "no sense" negatively affected youth mood, behavior, treatment adherence, and engagement in a collaborative relationship.
Conclusion: Working in partnership with youth in psychiatric care to establish, implement, and evaluate rules that "make sense" can promote positive health outcomes and prevent negative, unintended consequences.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore emotional functioning in individuals with varying levels of orthorexia nervosa (ON) symptoms. Given the established links between emotion dysregulation and other eating disorders (EDs), and the conceptualization of ON within the ED spectrum, this research sought to examine the relationships between ON symptomatology and emotion regulation strategies, alexithymia, and beliefs about emotions.
Methods: A large sample (N = 562) completed self-report measures with high psychometric properties, assessing ON traits (E-DOS), emotion regulation strategies (DERS-SF and ERQ), alexithymia (TAS-20), and beliefs about emotions (ERQ).

Despite being studied for almost two centuries, aromaticity has always been a controversial concept. We previously proposed a unified aromatic rule for π-conjugated systems by two-dimensional (2D) superatomic-molecule theory, where benzenoid rings are treated as period 2 2D superatoms (3π-N, 4π-O, 5π-F, 6π-Ne) and, further, bond to form 2D superatomic molecules. Herein, to build a 2D periodic table, we further extend the theory to period 3 (7π-P, 8π-S, 9π-Cl, 10π-Ar) and period 1 (1π-H, 2π-He) elements.
