Ultraviolet light detection is essential for environmental monitoring, hazard alerting, and optical communication. Here, a vertical UV photodetector is proposed and demonstrated by stacking the freestanding GaN-film on the 2D GaSe flake. Benefits from the vertical heterostructure and built-in electric field, the photodetector exhibits excellent photoresponse properties, including a high responsivity of 1.

Background: Children presenting to the pediatric emergency department (PED) with neurologic dysfunction require prompt evaluation. Many PEDs successfully implement stroke alerts. However, most pediatric patients presenting with neurologic dysfunction have a non-stroke diagnosis better evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Objectives: Barcode medication administration (BCMA) systems may improve patient safety with successful integration and use. This study aimed to explore the barriers and enablers for the successful use of a BCMA system by examining the patterns of medication and patient scanning over time and potential safety implications.
Methods: Retrospective longitudinal study informed by prospective clinical observations using data extracted from five hospital wards over the first 16 months after implementation to determine trends in medication and patient scanning rates, reasons for non-compliance and scanning mismatch alerts.

Background: A drastic increase in the volume of primary total knee arthroplasties (TKAs) performed nationwide will inevitably lead to higher volumes of revision TKAs in which the primary knee implant must be removed. An important step in preoperative planning for revision TKA is implant identification, which is time-consuming and difficult even for experienced surgeons. We sought to develop a deep learning algorithm to automatically identify the most common models of primary TKA implants.

Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) allows the optimization of diagnostic processes for hepatitis C virus (HCV) patients. Our objective was to evaluate the clinical, economic, and management benefits of an AI-based clinical decision support system (Intelligen-C strategy).
Methods: The Intelligen-C strategy consisted of (1) a retrospective phase (Dec 2013-Sep 2021), in which medical records were reviewed to search for anti-HCV-positive and/or HCV-RNA-positive patients lost in the system, and (2) a prospective phase (Feb 2022-Jan 2023), in which automated screening (40-70 years) and routine testing for risk factors were performed in patients who were admitted to the emergency department or were hospitalized.
