We describe a single-shot technique to measure areal profiles on optically smooth and stepped surfaces for applications where rapid data acquisition in non-cooperative environments is essential. It is based on hyperspectral interferometry (HSI), a technique in which the output of a white-light interferometer provides the input to a hyperspectral imaging system. Previous HSI implementations suffered from inefficient utilisation of the available pixels which limited the number of measured coordinates and/or unambiguous depth range. In the current paper a >20-fold increase in pixel utilisation is achieved through the use of a 2-D microlens array, that leads to a 35 × 35 channel system with an unambiguous depth range of 0.88 mm.

During coating processes, dust deposition can lead to an uneven thickness in the resulting film, posing significant problems in industrial processes. Our study explores the effects of solid defects using a vertical cylindrical fiber deposited on a silicone oil film coating a horizontal solid substrate. We use a hyperspectral camera to measure the film thickness by interferometry in the vicinity of the defect.

In recent years, stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy has experienced rapid technological advancements and has found widespread applications in chemical analysis. Hyperspectral SRS (hSRS) microscopy further enhances the chemical selectivity in imaging by providing a Raman spectrum for each pixel. Time-domain hSRS techniques often require interferometry and ultrashort femtosecond laser pulses.

By interfering two mutually coherent orthogonally-polarized and laterally-sheared HHG sources, we create an EUV illumination beam with spatially-dependent ellipticity. By placing a magnetic sample in the beamline and sweeping the relative time delay between the two sources, we record a spatially resolved interferogram that is sensitive to the EUV magnetic circular dichroism of the sample.
