Oxidative desulfurization is considered to be one of the most promising methods for producing ultra-low-sulfur fuels because it can effectively remove refractory sulfur-containing aromatic compounds under mild conditions. In this work, the oxidative desulfurization performance over UiO-66(Zr) is greatly enhanced by Ti ion exchange. This strategy is not only efficient for UiO-66(Zr) with crystal defects but also for UiO-66(Zr) with high crystallinity. In particular, the performance of UiO-66(Zr) with high crystallinity in the oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene can be improved more than 11-fold, which can be mainly attributed to the introduction of active Ti sites.

In this study, the performance of a pilot-scale biotrickling filter (BTF) for anoxic hydrogen sulfide (HS) removal from real biogas was evaluated over 226 days. The BTF, inoculated with activated sludge from a nearby wastewater treatment plant, operated in an industrial environment with raw biogas from an anaerobic digester fed with municipal solid waste. The operating strategy was based on controlling nitrate consumption by sulfur-oxidizing nitrate-reducing (SO-NR) bacteria.

In this study, waste polystyrene was modified and upgraded to prepare formylated polystyrene, and the modified polystyrene acetyl hydrazone (LT-HPA) was synthesized by condensation with polymethyl-propionyl-hydrazine. It is proven that the modification of the adsorption material is successful by various characterization methods. In the subsequent pollutant removal study, pH, mass, concentration, contact time, and salt ion interference were investigated.

The dosages of colloidal silicon seeds in the seed-induced synthesis of TS-1 zeolites were investigated in detail. The characterization results revealed that the colloidal silicon seeds not only reduced the particle sizes but also promoted the incorporation of titanium atoms into the framework of TS-1 zeolites as prepared. SEM images and particle size distribution (PSD) confirmed that the particle sizes of TS-1 zeolite could be effectively reduced to about 150 nm.

This study focuses on the coupled process of bio-enhanced absorption and biodesulfurization for the toxic gas HS and the greenhouse gas CO. The results show that on the basis of stabilized absorption of HS and CO by alkaline solution (Stage I), the addition of air-lift bioreactor process solution in the absorption column enhanced their absorption (Stage II). Specifically, at constant inlet concentrations of H₂S and CO₂ of 3% (30,000 ppmv) and 30% (300,000 ppmv), respectively, the outlet gases were primarily H₂S, CO₂, and N₂.

Understanding the relationship of competitive adsorption between reactants is the prerequisite for high activity and selectivity in heterogeneous catalysis, especially the difference between the adsorption energies (E) of two reactive intermediates in Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) models. Using oxidative dehydrogenation of hydrogen sulfide (HS-ODH) as a probe, we develop various metal single atoms on nitrogen-doped carbon (M-NDC) catalysts for controlling E-HS, E-O and investigating the difference in activity and selectivity. Combining theoretical and experimental results, a Sabatier relationship between the catalytic performance and E-O/E-HS emerges.
