AI Article Synopsis

  • A new rod-shaped, aerobic, Gram-negative bacterium named strain AR2 was discovered in the Yeongsan river in South Korea.
  • Strain AR2 closely relates to other bacteria, with the highest genetic similarity to strains LY03 and HMD2169 at 96.4%.
  • Its unique features include specific fatty acids and polar lipids, as well as a genomic G+C content of 60.4%, leading to its classification as a novel species.

Article Abstract

A rod shaped, aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, and motile bacterium, strain AR2, was isolated from a water sample of Yeongsan river, Republic of Korea. Strain AR2 clustered closely with the members of the genus and showed the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with LY03 (96.4%), HMD2169 (96.4%), cf (96.2%), and R2A43-10 (94.2%). The predominant fatty acids of strain AR2 were identified to be summed feature 3 (comprising C and/or C), C, and C3-OH. Diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and phosphatidylethanolamine were found to be the major polar lipids. The genomic DNA G+C content was 60.4 mol%. Based on the polyphasic characterization, the isolated strain AR2 is described as a representative of a novel species in the genus , for which the name sp. nov. (type strain =AR2 =KCTC 42755 =JCM 31504) is proposed.
