This review discusses the role of triglycerides (TGs) in the normal cardiovascular system as well as in the development and clinical manifestation of cardiovascular diseases. Regulation of TGs at the enzymatic and genetic level, in addition to their possible relevance as preclinical and clinical biomarkers, is discussed, culminating with a description of available and emerging treatments. Due to the high complexity of the subject and the vast amount of material in the literature, the objective of this review was not to exhaust the subject, but rather to compile the information to facilitate and improve the understanding of those interested in this topic. The main publications on the topic were sought out, especially those from the last 5 years. The data in the literature still give reason to believe that there is room for doubt regarding the use of TG as disease biomarkers; however, there is increasing evidence for the role of hypertriglyceridemia on the atherosclerotic inflammatory process, cardiovascular outcomes, and mortality.

Published in the October 2011 issue of Diabetes, this article was among the first to highlight the nuanced roles of exercise-induced changes in bioactive lipids such as ceramide and diacylglycerol (DAG) in insulin signaling.

The aim of this study was to revisit the complex relationship between inflammation, oxidative stress and lipid metabolism in dogs with hypercortisolism (HC). Fourteen dogs newly diagnosed with HC and an equal number of healthy counterparts of similar age and markers of oxidative stress (AOPP, TBARS, TAC, GSH, PON-1, and UA) and inflammation (NLR, PLR, SII, HPT, CHE, CP, and Hcy) were included in the study. To determine the lipid profiles, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels were measured, and the electrophoretic separation of lipoproteins was performed.

Hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) is the third most common cause of AP after gallstones and alcohol. Supportive measures, intravenous insulin, and plasmapheresis are possible treatment modalities for HTG-AP; however, definitive guidelines evaluating the best therapeutic approach are not clearly established. We present a rare case of a 42-year-old male without known comorbidities who was found to have HTG-AP.

Aims: To (1) synthesise evidence from Health at Every Size® interventions on physical and psychological health in people with overweight and obesity and (2) report between-group differences within interventions evaluating the impact of Health at Every Size® interventions on health and health-related outcomes.
Methods: Six databases (Medline, Embase, Cochrane, PsychInfo, CINAHL, and Scopus) were searched from inception until November 2022. Included studies were conducted in adults with overweight or obesity, used Health at Every Size®-based interventions compared with control interventions and reported dietary, physical and/or psychological outcomes, including diet quality, anthropometry, or quality of life.
