Aim: The aim of this study was to report the pregnancy outcomes of women who received different doses of corticosteroid supplementation during labor and delivery.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 102 pregnant women who received oral corticosteroid therapy, delivered at Osaka University Hospital, and were administered intravenous corticosteroid supplementation during labor and delivery. From January 2008 to May 2012, 47 women were administered a high dose of corticosteroids (HD group). From June 2012 to December 2016, 55 women were given a low dose of corticosteroids (LD group).

Results: There were no significant differences in the patient characteristics between the two groups. The most frequent disease was systemic lupus erythematosus (30/102; 29.4%). Most women used prednisolone for more than 1 year (91/102; 89.2%) and at a dose of more than 5 mg/day (88/102; 86.3%). The total intravenous dose of hydrocortisone during labor and delivery ± standard deviation was 233.5 ± 129.4 mg (HD group) and 143.4 ± 38.1 mg (LD group), exhibiting a significantly larger dose in the HD group. No patients suffered an adrenal deficiency and there were no significant differences in the hemodynamics. There were three cases of puerperal endometritis, two patients with hyperglycemia, and one wound infection in the HD group, whereas one case of puerperal endometritis in the LD group. There were no significant differences in the neonatal outcomes.

Conclusion: Pregnancy outcomes did not differ between the high and low doses of corticosteroid supplementation during labor and delivery.

Bell's palsy (BP) is a neurological disorder characterized by sudden unilateral peripheral facial paralysis. The etiology in children remains largely unknown, and standardized management strategies are lacking. The aim of this retrospective cohort study is to evaluate clinical features, laboratory markers, and therapeutic options associated with recovery to identify potential prognostic factors and validate therapeutic strategies, with a particular focus on the role of corticosteroids and vitamin supplementation.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICPis) significantly improves survival in a number of cancer patients by blocking immunosuppressive molecules and reactivating the function of effector T cells to specifically kil tumor cells. This article reports a case of secondary hypoadrenocorticism caused by programmed death 1 (PD-1) inhibitor related hypophysitis. A 65-year-old male patient received immunotherapy for right lung squamous cell carcinoma invading the chest wall (cT4N2M0) for 4 times.

A 69-year-old Japanese man developed abdominal pain, purpura, proteinuria, and hematuria while receiving treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis. A skin biopsy revealed IgA-positive leukocytoclastic vasculitis, and a renal biopsy showed IgA-positive mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis with crescent formation. Based on these findings, we diagnosed IgA vasculitis with nephritis (IgAVN) and initiated treatment.

Increasing aquaculture production requires high-density farming, which induces stress, necessitating supplements to mitigate its effects and ensure fish health. The aim of this study was to examine how CaNa2EDTA (EDTA) affects the growth, immune response and antioxidant activity in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The fish were raised at three different stocking densities: low (LD = 2.

Background: Kidney transplant recipients are uniquely exposed to the disordered bone metabolism associated with chronic kidney disease beginning before transplantation followed by chronic corticosteroid use after transplantation. Previous efforts to synthesize the rapidly accruing evidence regarding estimation and management of fracture risk in kidney transplant recipients are outdated and incomplete.

Objective: To synthesize the evidence informing the overall incidence, patient-specific risk prediction, and methods of prevention of fractures in patient living with a kidney transplant.
