The easy fabrication of single-layered graphene quantum dots (s-GQDs) still faces challenge. Herein, we report an efficient route to fabricate s-GQDs within 5 min at room temperature by introducing a simple self-exothermic reaction. The as-prepared s-GQDs can specifically bind with aluminium ions to produce an aggregation-induced emission enhancement effect.

Background: The current synthetic strategies for carbon dots (CDs) are usually time-consuming, rely on complicated processes, and need high temperatures and energy. Recent studies have successfully synthesized CDs at room temperature. Unfortunately, most CDs synthesized at room temperature are obtained under harsh reaction conditions, prepared using aromatic precursors, or need a long time to generate.

This work introduces an extremely easy method for preparing luminescent carbon dots (CDs) at ambient temperature using 1,2-naphthoquinone sulphonate and ethylenediamine as precursors via self-exothermic reaction without energy input. The as-obtained CDs have a high quantum yield (34.1 %), a production yield of 21.

As the competition intensifies in enhancing the integration and performance of integrated circuits, in accordance with the famous Moore's Law, higher performance and smaller size requirements are imposed on the dielectric layers in electronic devices. Compared to vacuum methods, the production cost of preparing dielectric layers via solution methods is lower, and the preparation cycle is shorter. This paper utilizes a low-temperature self-exothermic reaction based on the solution method to prepare high-performance AlO dielectric thin films that are compatible with flexible substrates.

Nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) were prepared by self-exothermic procedure using grasshopper powder as a single precursor. The prepared N-CDs not only have excellent fluorescence properties, but also can catalyze and enhance the ultra-weak chemiluminescence of NaHCO-HO. The reaction conditions of NaHCO-HO-N-CDs CL were optimized.

The self-exothermic in early stage of thermal runaway (TR) is blasting-fuse for Li-ion battery safety issues. The exothermic reaction between lithiated graphite (LiC ) and electrolyte accounts for onset of this behavior. However, preventing the deleterious reaction still encounters hurdles.
