A consecutive Sonogashira coupling reaction, acetylene hydroamination cyclization of 2-(2-bromophenyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-ones and terminal alkynes, is described catalyzed by CuI/l-proline in the presence of CsCO. This procedure provided a facile method for the synthesis of isoindolo[1,2-b]quinazolin-10(12H)-one derivatives in good yields.

()-Enediynes were successfully synthesized from a trio of terminal ethynes through consecutive three-step reactions: iodosulfonylation of ethyne with I/PhSONa, followed by ethynylations of iodo and sulfonyl moieties of the resulting iodosulfonylethene via Sonogashira-Hagihara coupling and nucleophilic addition-elimination, respectively. The molecular structure of the obtained ()-enediyne was fully characterized by X-ray crystal structure analysis, revealing that the nucleophilic substitution of ()-sulfonylethene with arylethynide underwent a selective stereoinversion. The ()-enediynes exhibited photoluminescence in both the solution and solid states (crystals and powders).

We present a novel, greener chloromethylation procedure for organosolv aspen lignin under mild reaction conditions without Lewis acid as a catalyst and in acetic acid as a solvent. This synthetic protocol provides a reliable approach to chloromethylated lignin (CML) and means to obtain valuable lignin derivatives. The resulted CML was subsequently transformed into 1-methylimidazolium lignin (ImL), which effectively serves as a stabilizing agent for Pd/CuO nanoparticles (Pd/CuO-NPs).

Pd@HKUST-1@Cu(II)/CMC composite bead as an efficient synergistic bimetallic catalyst for Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions.

We fabricated an efficient Pd@HKUST-1@Cu(II)/CMC composite bead catalyst through an innovative strategy based on the unique properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC). In this strategy, HKUST-1 MOFs were grown in-situ on the surface of micrometer-sized Cu-based CMC beads (Cu(II)/CMC), then Pd(II) ions were incorporated into the pores of the MOF and further be partially reduced to Pd(0) NPs, which is an active species for oxidative addition with aryl halides in Sonogashira reactions. The micron-sized Cu(II)/CMC beads were formed through inter/intramolecularly crosslinking facilitated by Cu(II) ions, which was achieved by the metathesis of Cu(II) with numerous carboxylic groups of CMC.

School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Green Synthesis for Functional Materials, Jiangsu Normal University, Xuzhou, Jiangsu 221116, China.

A copper-catalyzed sequence involving a Sonogashira coupling reaction and 5- aminocyclization between a terminal alkyne and a 2-(2-bromophenyl)pyrimidine analog based on six-membered rings is presented. This protocol provides a controlled and modular approach to access a variety of synthetically useful pyrimidine-fused skeletons with high efficiency, broad substrate scope, and excellent functional group compatibility. Under acidic conditions, the ()-configuration of products spontaneously converts into ()-9-benzylidene-1,9-dihydro-11-pyrazolo[4',3':4,5]pyrimido[2,1-]isoindol-11-ones.

In this study, a FeO@SiO@Cyt-Ni/Cu nanocomposite as a novel heterogeneous bimetallic catalyst was synthesized which exhibits efficient performance for the Sonogashira and C-N cross-coupling reactions. The characterization of the catalyst was studied by FT-IR, PXRD, VSM, EDX, TEM, FE-SEM and TGA analyses. The geometry optimization and relative energies of the designed bimetallic complexes were theoretically determined using density functional theory (DFT) calculation at the B3LYP/6-31G**/LANL2DZ level.
