Knowledge of population structure is very important for forensic genetics. However, the population substructure in Central-Southern China Han nationality has still not been fully described. In this study, we investigated the genetic diversity of 15 forensic autosomal STR loci from 6879 individuals in 12 Han populations subdivided by administrative provinces in Central-Southern China. The statistical analysis of genetic variation showed that genetic differentiation among these populations was very small with a F value of 0.0009. The Discriminant Analysis of Principal Components (DAPC) showed that there were no obvious population clusters in Central-Southern China Han population. In practice, the population structure effect in Central-Southern China Han population can be negligible in forensic identification and paternity testing.

Pine wilt disease has caused significant damage to China's ecological and financial resources. To prevent its further spread across the country, proactive control measures are necessary. Given the low accuracy of traditional models, we have employed an enhanced LightGBM model to predict the development trend of pine wilt disease in China.

Accurately capturing the spatiotemporal dynamics of regional forest cover and its response to climate change is of great significance for forest resource management and ecological environment protection. We used statistical methods such us linear regression and correlation analysis, as well as remote sensing change monitoring to investigate the spatiotemporal dynamics of forest cover and its response to climate change from 2000 to 2022 in Shandong Province based on MODIS VCF products and meteorological data. The results showed that the forest co-verage and forest area in Shandong Province increased from 43.

Urban greening plays a crucial role in maintaining environmental sustainability and enhancing people's well-being. However, limited by the shortcomings of traditional methods, studying the heterogeneity and nonlinearity between environmental factors and green view index (GVI) still faces many challenges. To address the concerns of nonlinearity, spatial heterogeneity, and interpretability, an interpretable spatial machine learning framework incorporating the Geographically Weighted Random Forest (GWRF) model and the SHapley Additive exPlanation (Shap) model is proposed in this paper.

In this study, the impact of exogenous N-acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs) on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in anaerobic/anoxic/oxic (A/A/O) systems was analyzed by manipulating the type and dosage of AHLs. The mechanism behind AHLs' effects on GHG emissions was explored through changes in microbial community structure. Findings revealed that N-octanoyl-homoserine lactone (C8-HSL) and high-dose N-dodecanoyl-homoserine lactone (C12-HSL) increased GHG emissions, while low-dose C12-HSL decreased them.

Impact of Climate Change on Distribution of Endemic Plant Section ( L.) in China: MaxEnt Model-Based Projection.

Plants (Basel)

November 2024

Key Laboratory of National Forestry and Grassland Administration on Biodiversity Conservation in Karst Mountainous Areas of Southwestern China, Guizhou Academy of Forestry, Guiyang 550005, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the endemic plant group Sect. from the Theaceae family in China, highlighting its ecological and economic importance along with gaps in understanding its habitat distribution.
  • Utilizing 65 occurrence records and 60 environmental factors, researchers used MaxEnt modeling to evaluate historical, present, and future habitats, revealing significant areas of high suitability mainly in regions like Guizhou and Sichuan.
  • Key environmental factors influencing its distribution were identified, with the mean diurnal range being the most critical; future projections suggest habitat changes based on emission scenarios, with potential growth under low emissions but threats under high emissions.
