The aim of the current study was to describe the epidemiological and clinical features of Behçet disease in western Algeria. This observational retrospective study examined records for patients with Behçet disease seen in our department from 1990 to 2015. Of the 61 patients included in the study, 80.3% were men, for a sex ratio of 4.08. The mean age at onset was 27.2±7 years, and the mean interval between the onset of symptoms and diagnosis was 4.8±6.3 years. Dermatologic manifestations were the most common finding. Oral ulcers were seen in all patients, genital ulcers in 60%, pseudofolliculitis in 56.4%, and erythema nodosum in 13.5%. A pathergy test was positive in 20% of the patients. The frequencies of the remaining manifestations were as follows: joint involvement 50%, ocular involvement 71.2%, vascular complications 29.6%, neurological involvement 19%, and gastrointestinal complications 7.5%. Besides dermatological manifestations, ocular and vascular complications were the most common features observed in our patients.

More than 500 centres in China hold over 300,000 individuals in what has been described by the United Nations as unethical and ineffective compulsory treatment and rehabilitation centres. Individuals in these centres face widespread human rights abuses, including lack of due process, forced labour, physical and sexual violence, and denial of healthcare. Because of the vulnerability of individuals in detention settings to abuse in research trials, ethical guidelines have required research to pose no more than minimal risk, to address the process of incarceration, and the health or well-being of detained individuals.

The non-observational, international XATOA registry showed that the COMPASS results can be reproduced in clinical practice in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD). Here we report patient characteristics and clinical outcomes for the subgroup of German PAD patients of the XATOA registry and compare them to COMPASS PAD patients.

Objective: Patients with chronic kidney disease suffer from immune dysfunction, increasing susceptibility to infections. The aim of the study was to investigate air contamination with respiratory viruses in a dialysis unit at a quaternary hospital using molecular detection techniques and to analyze airflow dynamics through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for a comprehensive assessment of air transmission risks.
Methods: We conducted dialysis unit air sampling using AerosolSense™ samplers.

Evoked potential metrics extracted from an EEG exam can provide novel sources of information regarding brain function. While the P300 occurring around 300 ms post-stimulus has been extensively investigated in relation to mild cognitive impairment (MCI), with decreased amplitude and increased latency, the P200 response has not, particularly in an oddball-stimulus paradigm. This study compares the auditory P200 amplitudes between MCI (28 patients aged 74(8)) and non-MCI, (35 aged 72(4)).
