Sixteen new angular dihydropyranocoumarins (1-16) and 24 known compounds were isolated from the roots of Peucedanum japonicum Thunb. The absolute configuration of diacylkhellactone was established by partial hydrolysis, the Mosher method, and X-ray crystallography. In addition, ECD spectroscopy was used to assign the absolute configurations of several of the angular dihydropyranocoumarins. Enantiomers were detected by RP-HPLC using MTPA esters while acyl migration of the substituents was observed in cis-monoacylkhellactones.

Five phenylpropanoid dimers chrysanthephenyls A-E, with the 1-O-1'-type (1) and 1-O-2'-type (2-5) ether bond linking modes, were isolated from the aerial parts of Chrysanthemum indicum. Among them, chrysanthephenyls D and E were two pairs of enantiomers, and chrysanthephenyl E was further resolved into its enantiomers (+)-chrysanthephenyl E and (-)-chrysanthephenyl E via chiral-phase HPLC. Their structures were characterized on the basic analysis of the spectroscopic techniques (IR, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR), and their absolute configurations were determined by DP4+ NMR analysis and ECD calculation method.

Three novel compounds, including an aromatic amino acid, dimorine A (1), a suncheonoside derivative, dimoroside A (2), and a phenylpropanoid glycoside, dimoroside B (3), together with four known compounds (4-7) were separated from Umbelopsis dimorpha VDG10, the predominant endophytic fungus found in the roots of Vaccinium dunalianum Wight (Ericaceae). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, and the ECD spectrum confirmed the absolute configuration of 3. In addition, the antifungal activities of novel compounds against five phytopathogenic fungi were evaluated.

Two new compounds including one benzaldehyde () and one azaphilone () were isolated from the marine-derived fungus PSU-AMF89 together with nine known compounds (-). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic evidences. The absolute configuration of was established by comparison of the ECD data with those of the previously reported data of compound as well as the biosynthetic consideration.

In the present study, an algae-containing octocoral, Junceella fragilis, was subjected to chemical screening. The analysis resulted in the extraction of six polyacetoxybriaranes: a new compound, identified as fragilide Z (1), alongside previously identified analogs, which included 12-epi-fragilide G (2), fragilide P (3), junceellolide D (4), junceellonoid A (5), and juncin ZI (6). The structures of compounds 2-6 were investigated through single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, whereas that of 1 was examined through two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance analysis.
