This study investigated the role of circadian rhythms in online information sharing. We gathered 416,914 posts from the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). We identified daily patterns of collective positive and negative affect in these posts, consistent with previous research on social media and circadian rhythms.

Comparison of SIMOA and VEUS technologies for serum neurofilament light chain measurement in multiple sclerosis.

Mult Scler Relat Disord

October 2024

Department of Neurology, University Hospital Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic; Centre of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares two methods for measuring serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) levels in multiple sclerosis patients: the established SIMOA method and the newer VEUS method, which is more automated and user-friendly.
  • The results revealed significant differences in sNfL levels measured by the two methods, with SIMOA yielding notably higher concentrations than VEUS, despite the lack of correlation between the two.
  • The findings highlight the VEUS method’s tendency to underestimate sNfL levels, suggesting that caution is needed when interpreting results from different diagnostic systems.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the impact of endovascular therapy (EVT) on cognitive outcomes following a large vessel occlusion stroke, using data from the ESCAPE trial.
  • Cognitive assessments were performed 90 days post-stroke and included various tests to evaluate memory and cognitive function, with results indicating that EVT significantly improved cognitive outcomes across all tests.
  • Findings showed that EVT was associated with better cognitive performance (higher odds ratios for favorable outcomes), and both final infarct volume and cognitive function had notable correlations, suggesting that both factors influence recovery.

During the present study, the evolutionary relationship within a clade of mountain clade of freshwater crabs () was examined using mtDNA sequence data for species from the Cape Fold Mountain (CFM) and Great Escarpment (Drakensberg Mountain range). We undertook phylogenetic analyses, divergence time estimation, and an ancestral area reconstruction to explore the period of cladogenesis and understand the biogeographic history in this high-altitude clade. Furthermore, we applied four species delimitation methods using ASAP, bPTP, bGMYC, and STACEY on the latter clade.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or similarly identified (LGBTQ+) people experience substantial mental health disparities compared to heterosexuals. The "Let's Connect" intervention was designed to improve mental health outcomes for LGBTQ+ people. This impact evaluation aimed to assess effectiveness of this intervention during its pilot phase, using a single arm pilot trial.
