Objectives: The current investigation was carried out to determine the cytotoxic and the antimicrobial activities of methanolic extracts of .
Methods: The stems, leaves, and whole plants were air dried and extracted with methanol by using a Soxhlet extractor for 72 hours at 55 - 60°C. The antimicrobial activities were determined from the zones of inhibition, which were measured by using the agar well diffusion method, and the cytotoxicity assays were performed using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay method.
Results: The methanolic extracts of the stem and the leaves of were tested against six bacterial species and nine fungal species, and both extracts showed antimicrobial activity in a dose-dependent manner. The leaf extract of showed maximum antimicrobial activity against both and . The stem extract was found to be more antimicrobial against the and the species. MTT assays were used to test the cytotoxicity of the whole plant extract in the HCT-116 and the K-562 cell lines, and that extract was shown to have weak cytotoxicity in both cell lines.
Conclusion: In the present study, the methanolic stem extracts of were found to possess remarkable antibacterial activities against many human and agricultural pathogens. The extracts were also found to possess significant antifungal activities, but the antifungal activities were less than the antibacterial activities. Finally, the extracts were found to have weak cytotoxicities in the HCT-116 and the K-562 cell lines.

Multidrug resistant bacteria are causing health problems and economic burden worldwide; alternative treatment options such as natural products and nanoparticles have attained great attention recently. Therefore, we aimed to determine the phytochemicals, antibacterial potential, and anticancer activity of W. unigemmata.

Objective: The rise of drug-resistant bacteria, viruses, and fungi has prompted the search for new drugs without cross-resistance to current treatments. As a result, the aim of this research was to synthesize various types of dihydropyrimidinones heterocyclic compounds and screened them for their antibiotic properties.
Methodology: Newly synthesized dihydropyrimidinone derivatives were characterized spectroscopically using proton NMR (HNMR), and FT-IR.

Iodoform, a halogenated organic compound, has been a cornerstone in surgical practice due to its potent antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. This comprehensive review examines the historical evolution, mechanism of action, clinical applications, and safety profile of iodoform across various surgical disciplines. Historically significant formulations like Whitehead's varnish and bismuth iodoform paraffin paste (BIPP) demonstrated remarkable efficacy in wound healing during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria and their associated biofilms are major causative factors in eye infections, often resulting in blindness and presenting considerable global health challenges. Presently, mechano-bactericidal systems, which combine distinct topological geometries with mechanical forces to physically induce bacterial apoptosis, show promising potential. However, the physical interaction process between current mechano-bactericidal systems and bacteria is generally based on passive diffusion or Brownian motion and lacks the force required for biofilm penetration; thus, featuring low antibacterial efficacy.

() infections are increasingly challenging due to their propensity to form biofilms and low outer membrane permeability, especially in chronically infected patients with thick mucus. exhibits multiple drug resistance mechanisms, making it one of the most significant global public health threats. In this study, we found that moxifloxacin (MXC) and antibacterial peptides (ε-poly-l-lysine, ε-PLL) exhibited a synergistic effect against multidrug-resistant (MDR-).
