An extraction method using acidified methanol based on the quick polar pesticide (QuPPe) method using suppressed ion chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry was developed and validated for the direct analysis of polar pesticides, without the need for derivatization or ion pairing, in cereals and grapes. The method was robust, and results for glyphosate, aminomethyl phosphonic acid (AMPA), N-acetyl-AMPA, glufosinate, 3-methylphosphinicopropionic acid (3-MPPA), N-acetyl glufosinate, ethephon, chlorate, perchlorate, fosetyl aluminum, and phosphonic acid at three concentration levels (typically 0.01, 0.05, and 0.1 mg/kg) were compliant with SANTE/11945/2015 guideline method performance criteria. Cereal-based infant food proved to be a more challenging matrix and validated only for glyphosate, chlorate, and perchlorate at 0.005, 0.01, and 0.05 mg/kg. The developed method enables the multiresidue analysis of 12 ionic pesticides and relevant metabolites in a single analysis. Until now, the analysis of these compounds required several different single-residue methods using different chromatographic conditions. This multiresidue approach offers the possibility of more cost-effective and more efficient monitoring of polar ionic pesticides and contaminants that are of concern to food regulation bodies and consumers.

Brazilian soils have distinctive characteristics to European and North American soils which are typically used to investigate pesticide fate. This study aimed to compare soil-water partition coefficient (K), reversibility of adsorption and degradation half-life (DT) of 5 pesticides covering a wide range of physico-chemical properties in contrasting Brazilian soils (Argissolo, Gleissolo, Latossolo and Neossolo) and a temperate (UK) alfisol soil, and to study their relationship with soil OM, clay and expandable clay content, CEC and pH. Efficient enrichment of analytes and purification of matrices are crucial for the highly sensitive detection and monitoring of pesticides in traditional Chinese herbs. This work prepared magnetic ionic liquid-controlled covalent organic framework (IL-COF@FeO) as the sorbent via a simple in-situ precipitation polymerization and thiolene "click" strategy. Pesticide residues on fruits pose a global food safety concern, emphasizing the need for effective and practical removal strategies to ensure safe consumption. Phosphonic acid cation exchange materials (PCX) are synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) followed by alkyne-azide click-chemistry. With the encroaching issue of water pollution, the use of involved chemicals to remove pollutants from water is not only a risk of chemical contamination, a potential hazard to the environment and human health but also requires significant investment in managing and improving the chemicals. Therefore, alginate as one of the nanomaterial-adorned polysaccharides-based entity that usually extract from brown algae has been used as novel and more efficient catalysts in the removal of a variety of aqueous pollutants from wastewater, including ionic metals and organic/inorganic pollutants by using the adsorption techniques. Adsorption is a technique used in water treatment where non-polar or particles less soluble in water are stuck to the surface of the adsorbent and therefore purifying it.
