Neutron powder diffraction patterns measured above T have been used to determine the location of the excess Mn in MnGa (1.15 ≤ x ≤ 1.8). This information has then been used to constrain the fits to neutron powder diffraction patterns measured at ambient temperature and so determine unambiguously the Mn moments in this system. We find that Mn randomly occupies the two Ga sites (2a and 2b) in the I4/mmm structure and propose that it is more appropriate to use a simpler structure based on the P4/mmm space group with a reduced unit cell. In this structure the two Ga sites are formally equivalent (they occupy the 1a site while Mn occupies the 1d site). Our experimental observations are supported by DFT calculations. Below T we find that the Mn(1d) moment is constant at 2.45(3) μ , while Mn on the 1a site carries a slightly larger moment (~3 μ ) that is coupled antiparallel to the Mn(1d) moments, leading to the observed drop in magnetisation with increasing Mn content in MnGa.

Nanozymes with specific catalytic activity inhibit inflammation and promote wound healing efficiently and safely. In this work, multifunctional manganese-based nanozymes (MnGA) with antioxidant properties were successfully constructed via a simple coordination reaction in which manganese chloride was used as the manganese source and gallic acid (GA) was used as the ligand solution. MnGA possesses both catalase-like (CAT-like) and superoxide dismutase-like (SOD-like) activities and a reactive nitrogen species (RNS) scavenging capacity, which enables it to efficiently inhibit the inflammatory response.

The effect of consuming traditionally and non-traditionally processed blue corn tortillas on the dentate gyrus of rat pups during gestation was evaluated. Blue corn tortillas were made from grains steeped or not steeped in a solution of gallic acid and processed by traditional or microwave nixtamalization. Total polyphenol and total anthocyanin contents were analyzed.

Transverse thermoelectric conversion holds significant potential in addressing complex challenges faced by classical Seebeck/Peltier modules. A promising transverse thermoelectric phenomenon is the anomalous Nernst effect originating from nontrivial band structures in magnetic topological materials. However, the currently reported performance of the anomalous Nernst effect in topological materials, e.

The GaAs based diluted magnetic semiconductor, (Ga, Mn)As, with the unique advantage of manipulating the spin and charge was widely investigated in the scientific community and considered as a potential material for the spintronic devices. However, its Curie temperature (), which is limited to around 200 K, hinders the research progress of diluted magnetic semiconductors for potential device applications. Herein, we propose an approach to prepare the MnGa nanoparticles embedded in (Ga, Mn)As matrix using the magnetron sputtering deposition of Mn on GaAs surface, followed by the nano-second pulsed laser annealing (PLA), which gives aabove 400 K.

Article Synopsis
  • Ulcerative colitis (UC) is exacerbated by excessive reactive oxygen/nitrogen species and inflammatory cytokines, creating a challenging inflammatory environment for treatment.
  • Traditional drugs for UC often lead to side effects, resistance, and low patient compliance, highlighting the need for safer and more effective therapies.
  • Recently developed manganese gallate nanoparticles show promise as a nontoxic nanoenzyme that alleviates UC symptoms by reducing inflammation, restoring gut barrier function, and improving intestinal microbiota balance.
