Using the RP4::mini-Mu in vivo cloning technique, van Gijsegem et al. (1985) isolated several pel and cel genes of Erwinia chrysanthemi (Ech) B374 strain. We have localized these genes on the Ech chromosome by co-transfer mapping of MudI1734 insertion mutants and refined the map by co-transposition analysis. This analysis has enabled us to identify another cel gene.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of cross-sectional imaging for detection of pancreatic cancer (PDAC) in patients with new-onset hyperglycemia and diabetes (NOD).

Methods: We conducted a prospective pilot study from November 2018 to March 2020 within an integrated health system. Patients aged 50-85 years with newly elevated glycemic parameters without a history of diabetes were invited to complete a 3-phase contrast-enhanced computed tomography pancreas protocol scan while participating in the Prospective Study to Establish a NOD Cohort.

The pollution assessment and the evaluation of potential risks in the Atlantic Coastal Region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are still very limited. Consequently, the present study investigates for the first time the concentrations of heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants (organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)) in river, estuary, and marine sediments from this area. The results highlighted high concentrations of Cr, Zn, As, and Pb exceeding the probable effect level (PEL) on aquatic life.

1. A 2 × 2 factorial design was used to test the hypothesis that impaired intestinal starch digestibility is attributable to rapid passage of digesta from the gizzard to the intestine, and that, compared to steam pelleting, increasing the availability of starch through extrusion cooking may alleviate the potential negative effect of rapid digesta flow on starch utilisation. 2.

Masking patterns for monopolar and phantom electrode stimulation in cochlear implants.

Phantom electrode (PE) stimulation consists of out-of-phase stimulation of two electrodes. When presented at the apex of the electrode array, phantom stimulation is known to produce a lower pitch sensation than monopolar (MP) stimulation on the most apical electrode. The ratio of the current between the primary electrode (PEL) and the compensating electrode (CEL) is represented by the coefficient σ, which ranges from 0 (monopolar) to 1 (full bipolar).
