Macroscopic imagers are subject to constraints imposed by the wave nature of light and the geometry of image formation. The former limits the resolving power while the latter results in a loss of absolute size and shape information. The suite of methods outlined in this work enables macroscopic imagers the unique ability to capture unresolved spatial detail while recovering topographic information. The common thread connecting these methods is the notion of imaging under patterned illumination. The notion is advanced further to develop computational imagers with resolving power that is decoupled from the constraints imposed by the collection optics and the image sensor. These imagers additionally feature support for multiscale reconstruction.

An 11-year-old spayed female Beagle presented with tenesmus and was identified with a rectal wall mass. Diagnostic imaging (abdominal ultrasound and computed tomography) localised the mass in the right rectal wall and documented no evidence of metastatic disease. Subsequently, the dog underwent surgery for tumour excision.

Characterizing the size, structure, and composition of nanoparticles is vital in predicting and understanding their macroscopic properties. In this work, charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS) was used to analyze nanocapsules (∼10-200 MDa) consisting of a liquid oleic acid core surrounded by a dense silica outer shell. CDMS is an emerging method for nanoparticle analysis that can rapidly measure the mass and charge of thousands of individual nanoparticles.

Introduction: The number of insular gyri is elevated in patients with schizophrenia. Thus, it has potential as a marker of early neurodevelopmental abnormalities. However, currently it remains unclear whether patients with other neuropsychiatric disorders, such as affective disorders, also have this gross brain anatomical feature.

Background: Linitis plastica is a challenging diagnosis in the setting of a patient with previous breast cancer.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a 74-year-old Chinese Female with a history of breast cancer who presented with epigastric pain, nausea, early satiety, and weight loss of 5 kg in 3 months. Endoscopic diagnosis of linitis plastica was made, but subsequent management plans were dependent on accurate histological assessment in view of her oncological history.

Poor aqueous solubility of crystalline active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) restricts their bioavailability. Amorphous solid dispersions with biocompatible polymer excipients offer a solution to overcome this problem, potentially enabling a broader use of many drug candidate molecules. This work addresses various aspects of the design of a suitable combination of an API and a polymer to form such a binary solid dispersion.
