We evaluated the performance of laser ablation analysis techniques such as laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), laser ablation inductively coupled optical emission spectrometry (LA-ICP-OES), and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), in comparison with that of ICP-OES using aqueous solutions for the quantification of sulfur (S) in edible salts from different geographical origins. We found that the laser ablation based sampling techniques were not influenced by loss of S, which was observed in ICP-OES with aqueous solutions for a certain salt upon their dissolution in aqueous solutions, originating from the formation of volatile species and precipitates upon their dilution in water. Although detection of S using direct laser sampling with LA-ICP-MS has well-known isobaric and polyatomic interferences, LIBS and LA-ICP-OES showed good accuracy in the detection of S for all salts. LIBS also provided the ability to identify the dominant chemical form in which S is present in salts. Correlation between S and oxygen, observed in LIBS spectra, provided chemical information about the presence of S or [Formula: see text], which are associated with the origin and quality of edible salts.

Objective: To identify the most effective treatment modality for achieving favorable outcomes in early glottic tumors with anterior commissure involvement (ACI).
Data Sources: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect.
Review Methods: Random-effects proportional meta-analysis model is used to evaluate the oncological and functional outcomes of transoral laser microsurgery (TLM) versus radiation therapy (RT) in early glottic (T1-T2) cancer with ACI.

Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) is a prevalent condition in postmenopausal women characterized by symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching, and urinary tract issues due to declining estrogen levels. Despite its widespread impact on quality of life, GSM often remains underdiagnosed and without effective treatment. This study assessed the long-term efficacy of fractional CO laser treatment in alleviating GSM symptoms in perimenopausal women.

The primary method of treatment for patients suffering from drug-resistant focal-onset epilepsy is resective surgery, which adversely impacts neurocognitive function. Radio frequency (RF) ablation and laser ablation are the methods with the most promise, achieving seizure-free rates similar to resection but with less negative impact on neurocognitive function. However, there remains a number of concerns and open technical questions about these two methods of thermal ablation, with the primary ones: (1) heating; (2) hemorrhage and bleeding; and (3) poor directionality.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an immune disorder of the gastrointestinal tract with a complex aetiopathogenesis, whose development is influenced by many factors. The prevalence of IBD is increasing worldwide, in both industrialized and developing countries, making IBD a global health problem that seriously affects quality of life. In 2019, there were approximately 4.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, a therapeutic approach utilizing low-level light, has garnered significant attention for its potential to modulate various biological processes. This study aimed at optimizing and investigating the effects of PBM on angiogenesis and mitochondrial metabolic activity. In vitro experiments using human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were performed to assess PBM's impacts on cell migration, proliferation, endogenous protoporphyrin IX production, mitochondrial membrane potential, Rhodamine 123 fluorescence lifetime, mitochondrial morphology, and oxygen consumption.
