Management of fingertip and thumb tip injuries has recently undergone substantial changes. The time-proven traditional armamentarium of local flaps has been expanded and replaced by a wide variety of flaps. Simultaneous with the development of new flaps, the conservative treatment of fingertip and thumb tip injuries with semiocclusive dressings has also become a more acceptable treatment for these injuries. The excellent results with respect to restoring contour, sensibility of the pulp, and aesthetics of the finger justify this more tedious and time-consuming treatment of fingertip and thumb tip injuries. This article gives an update of the most commonly used flaps and the semiocclusive dressing treatments of fingertip and thumb tip injuries.

Surgical management of constriction ring syndrome (CRS) is individualised due to the heterogenic presentation of the condition. CRS includes constriction rings, acrosyndactyly, nubbins and short digits. Involvement of more than one limb is common and children often need multiple surgeries.

Background: The reconstruction of the thumb's pulp is challenging when considering that there is no consensus on which local flap will provide better prognosis and less financial impact. The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of the most used flaps for the trauma to the volar substance of the thumb, validating the main indications.
Methods: This systematic review adhered to PRISMA guidelines and electronic searches were conducted in multiple databases (MEDLINE/PubMed, Virtual Health Library, Embase and Scopus) with studies published in the last ten years - until April 2022.

In this paper, the innovative design of a robotic hand with soft jointed structure is carried out and a tendon-driven mechanism, a master-slave motor coordinated drive mechanism, a thumb coupling transmission mechanism and a thumb steering mechanism are proposed. These innovative designs allow for more effective actuation in each finger, enhancing the load capacity of the robotic hand while maintaining key performance indicators such as dexterity and adaptability. A mechanical model of the robotic finger was made to determine the application limitations and load capacity.

We propose a compact wearable glove capable of estimating both the finger bone lengths and the joint angles of the wearer with a simple stretch-based sensing mechanism. The soft sensing glove is designed to easily stretch and to be one-size-fits-all, both measuring the size of the hand and estimating the finger joint motions of the thumb, index, and middle fingers. The system was calibrated and evaluated using comprehensive hand motion data that reflect the extensive range of natural human hand motions and various anatomical structures.
