Removal of transition bands from narrow speech passbands through very steep filtering has made it possible to isolate and determine (for the first time) intelligibility of critical bandwidth as well as subcritical bandwidth speech. These rectangular bands have unique intelligibilities when heard singly, paired, or in various multiband arrays spanning the speech spectrum. Thus, a particular sparse spectral array of unfamiliar everyday sentences in this study has demonstrated 98% intelligibility up to 100 dB. Some theoretical and practical applications are suggested.

Complementary transistors are critical for circuits with compatible input/output signal dynamic range and polarity. Organic electronics offer biocompatibility and conformability; however, generation of complementary organic transistors requires introduction of separate materials with inadequate stability and potential for tissue toxicity, limiting their use in biomedical applications. Here, we discovered that introduction of source/drain contact asymmetry enables spatial control of de/doping and creation of single-material complementary organic transistors from a variety of conducting polymers of both carrier types.

Narrow Band-Wireless Wide Area Networking (NB-WWAN) technologies are becoming more popular across a wide range of application domains due to their ability to provide spatially distributed and reliable wireless connectivity in addition to offering low data rates, low bandwidth, long-range, and long battery life. For functional testing and performance assessments, the wide range of wireless technology alternatives within this category poses several difficulties. At the device level, it is necessary to address issues such as resource limitations, complex protocols, interoperability, and reliability, while at the network level, challenges include complex topologies and wireless channel/signal propagation problems.

With the ever-increasing volume of data, the need for systems that can handle massive datasets is becoming gradually critical. High performance visible light communication (VLC) systems offer an expedient solution, yet its widespread adoption is hindered by the limited modulation bandwidth of light emitting diodes (LEDs). Through many-body perturbation theory within the approximation and the Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) approach, this work introduces a novel approach to achieving exceptionally high modulation bandwidth by utilizing the nearly flat bands in two-dimensional semiconductors, using SnNBr monolayer as a prototype material for overcoming this bottleneck.

Here, we experimentally demonstrate a parallel broadband chaos generation scheme using a single long-active-cavity Fabry-Perot (LC-FP) semiconductor laser under optical feedback. The active-cavity length is designed to be 1500 μm, so the power spectrum of chaos is expanded and flattened by the mode-beating effect.
