Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a clinical manifestation of systemic atherosclerosis and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The physiological force and shear stress from angioplasty and stenting have made PAD treatment challenging. Atherectomy devices have continued to emerge as a major therapy in the management of peripheral vascular disease. This article presents a review of the current literature for the atherectomy devices used in PAD.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided coronary intravascular lithotripsy and rotational atherectomy in treating severe coronary artery calcification.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 60 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from October 2022 to August 2023 was conducted. The patients were divided into two groups: 30 received IVUS-guided coronary intravascular lithotripsy and 30 underwent IVUS-guided rotational atherectomy.

Methods: This single-center retrospective study enrolled patients from January 2018 to March 2022 who had femoropopliteal artery in-stent restenosis treated by RA and DCB. Preoperative demographics, operative details, and postoperative 12-month follow-up outcomes were analyzed statistically.

Purpose: To evaluate the primary use of a laser atherectomy-thrombectomy system in patients with acute limb ischemia (ALI).
Materials And Methods: A single-center retrospective review of patients presenting with ALI (14 days or less) from August 2021 to February 2024 treated primarily with a laser atherectomy-thrombectomy system (Auryon; Angiodynamics, Queensbury, New York) was performed. Technical success was defined by resolution of the acute occlusion with adequate inflow and outflow with pedal signals detectable by handheld doppler ultrasound.
