Gliomas are aggressive intracranial tumors of the central nervous system with a poor prognosis, high risk of recurrence, and low survival rates. Radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy are traditional cancer therapies. It is very challenging to accurately image and differentiate the malignancy grade of gliomas due to their heterogeneous and infiltrating nature and the obstruction of the blood-brain barrier.

Background: Preoperative chemoradiotherapy combined with total mesorectal excision (TME) is a standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). However, lateral pelvic lymph nodes (LPLNs) are often inadequately treated with standard regimens. This study examines the treatment and postoperative outcomes in LARC patients receiving a simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) for LPLNs during long-course chemoradiotherapy.

Mandibular gingival squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common oral cancer after tongue cancer. As these carcinomas often invade the mandible early, accurately defining the resection extent is important. This report highlights the use of preoperative virtual surgery data, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology, surgical guidance, and extended reality (XR) support in achieving highly accurate marginal mandibulectomy without recurrence or metastasis.

Objectives: Femtosecond laser image guided high precision trabeculotomy (FLigHT) is a novel open-angle glaucoma treatment. The procedure non-invasively creates aqueous humor (AH) drainage channel from the anterior chamber (AC) to Schlemm's canal (SC) through the trabecular meshwork (TM) to decrease intraocular pressure (IOP). The purpose of this study was to develop a 3D finite element model (FEM) of the FLigHT procedure and to simulate clinical results for different drainage channel cross-sectional areas.

Background: In the context of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for oropharyngeal squamous carcinoma (OPSCC), preoperative imaging and intraoperative visualization plays a pivotal role in optimizing resection margins. Prior work has demonstrated the ability of transoral ultrasound (US) in identifying OPSCC margins and vascular structures. This study evaluates the effectiveness of transcervical ultrasound (TUS), as well as other preoperative imaging modalities, in evaluating OPSCC volumes and compares this to post TORS pathological OPSCC volumes.
