Researchers have reported that Bacillus megaterium BM18-2 reduces Cd toxicity in Hybrid Pennisetum, but understanding the interaction between plants and associated endophytes is crucial for understanding phytoremediation strategies under heavy metal stress. The current study aims to monitor the colonization patterns of GFP-labeled endophytic bacteria BM18-2 on Hybrid Pennisetum grass. Additionally, it will monitor Cd's effect on plant bacterial colonization.

The murine hepatitis virus (MHV) is an important model system for studying coronavirus (CoV) molecular and cell biology. Despite this, few reagents for MHV are available through repositories such as ATCC or Addgene, potentially limiting the widespread adoption of MHV as a tractable model system. To overcome some challenges inherent in the existing MHV reverse genetics systems, we developed a plasmid-launched transformation-associated recombination (TAR) cloning-based system to assemble the MHV (strain A59; MHV-A59) genome.

Background: Heavy alcohol consumption is associated with increased risk for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD), with mixed evidence suggesting a dose-dependent nonlinear effect of alcohol on ADRD. Potential mechanisms by which alcohol may promote or attenuate brain pathology need further exploration. Although chronic alcohol consumption associates with gut microbiome alterations, it remains unclear whether microbial alterations mediate alcohol-associated neurodegeneration and cognitive decline.

A prolonged tuberculosis outbreak, linked by whole-genome sequencing, occurred in a Pasifika extended family over 10 years (2013-2022) in Sydney, Australia. Despite Australia's low tuberculosis incidence, social and cultural complexities, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) disruptions exacerbated transmission. Control required culturally sensitive, family-centered care and robust health system engagement.

Background: Current literature focuses on the association between gut dysbiosis and the aggregation of Aβ, the development of tau protein, as well as neuroinflammation and oxidative stress associated with AD. Since the brain and gut are connected (gut-brain axis), gut microbiota and their metabolites may influence AD progression, or vice versa, if AD pathogenesis impacts the microbiome. Observational studies have shown an altered taxonomic composition of gut microbiota in AD patients compared to cognitively normal (CN) controls.
