The investigation of top-down effects on perception requires a rigorous definition of what qualifies as perceptual to begin with. Whereas Firestone & Scholl's (F&S's) phenomenological demarcation of perception from cognition appeals to intuition, we argue that the dividing line is best attained at the functional level. We exemplify how this approach facilitates scrutinizing putative interactions between judging and perceiving.

Background: Many signs of spatial dysgraphia and drawing errors after right hemispheric stroke (RHS) have been attributed to spatial neglect or impaired sensory feedback. Counterclockwise (contralesional) tilts of graphomotor productions remained to be explained.
Objective: To test whether graphomotor tilts stem from a tilted representation of verticality transposed to the top/bottom axis of the sheet of paper, using data from the DOBRAS cohort.

Researchers have examined the effects of campus ostracism on students' perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors. However, little is known about the relationships between campus ostracism and student organizational citizenship behavior (OCB).
