Fundamental differences between perception and cognition argue that the distinction can be maintained independently of cognitive penetrability. The core processes of cognition can be integrated under the theory of relational knowledge. The distinguishing properties include symbols and an operating system, structure-consistent mapping between representations, construction of representations in working memory that enable generation of inferences, and different developmental time courses.

Photoswitches are widely investigated molecules because upon exposure to selected light irradiation, they are able to undergo structural, and hence optical, changes. To fully exploit their responsiveness to irradiation, the quantum efficiency of the forward and back reactions is a fundamental parameter, whose accurate determination is critical. In this work, the spectral evolution of a biomimetic switch, which undergoes / photoinduced isomerization, is spectrophotometrically examined.

Opioids are potent analgesics in clinical pain management but exert variable analgesia in different pain types. Opioid-induced constipation is a common side effect of opioid therapy, and whether opioids induce different gastrointestinal motility inhibitions in different pain types is unknown. In this study, we evaluated the antinociceptive effects and inhibition of upper gastrointestinal transit and colonic bead expulsion of morphine, DAMGO, and Deltorphin in mouse CFA chronic inflammatory pain, SNI chronic neuropathic pain, and carrageenan chronic inflammatory pain models.

Although electric vehicles supplied through distributed generators (DGs) have been universally researched to reduce CO emissions, the accurate current sharing regarding islanded multi-bus DC charging stations considering three charging modes of electric vehicles, i.e., constant current mode, constant power mode and constant voltage mode, is rarely realized.

Lysophosphatidylserine (lyso-PS) is a potent hormone-like signaling lysophospholipid, which regulates many facets of mammalian biology and dysregulation in its metabolism is associated with several human neurological and autoimmune diseases. Despite the physiological importance and causal relation with human pathophysiology, little is known about the metabolism of lyso-PS in tissues other than the nervous and immune systems. To address this problem, here, we attempted to identify one (or more) lipase(s) capable of degrading lyso-PS in different mammalian tissues.
