This paper proposes a distributed model predictive control based load frequency control (MPC-LFC) scheme to improve control performances in the frequency regulation of power system. In order to reduce the computational burden in the rolling optimization with a sufficiently large prediction horizon, the orthonormal Laguerre functions are utilized to approximate the predicted control trajectory. The closed-loop stability of the proposed MPC scheme is achieved by adding a terminal equality constraint to the online quadratic optimization and taking the cost function as the Lyapunov function. Furthermore, the treatments of some typical constraints in load frequency control have been studied based on the specific Laguerre-based formulations. Simulations have been conducted in two different interconnected power systems to validate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed MPC-LFC as well as its superiority over the comparative methods.

Ibiza (Eivissa) is one of the main Balearic Islands in the western Mediterranean. Recent studies have highlighted the genetic distinctiveness of present-day Eivissans within the region and suggested it could be attributed to the genetic drift caused by recent demographic events. Whether this distinctiveness emerged from a differential demographic history, or rather from a bias for sampling in a small geographic region such as Eivissa, remains an open question, together with the understanding of the functional consequences of demography in the island.

Background: Determining the precise genetic mechanisms that contribute to LOAD, both in coding and noncoding variants, will enable a deeper understanding of pathogenesis and advance preclinical models for the testing of targeted therapeutics.
Methods: We have introduced candidate genetic variants in the EPHA1, BIN1, CD2AP, SCIMP, KLOTHO, PTK2B, ADAMTS4, IL1RAP, IL34, and PTPRB loci into a sensitized mouse model already harboring humanized amyloid-beta, APOE4, and Trem2.R47H alleles knocked in to a C57BL/6J background.

Background: Age is the largest risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's Disease (LOAD). Although >80 genetic loci have been associated with LOAD, little is known about the age dependencies of these associations except the APOE region.
Method: We performed cross-ancestry and ancestry-specific genome-wide gene-age interaction and age-stratified association study using TOPMed-imputed genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Consortium (ADGC) including 34,833 non-Hispanic Whites (NHW), 7,264 African Americans (AA), 3,232 East Asians (EA), and 2,024 Caribbean Hispanics (CH) aged 60 years and older.

Background: Late-onset Alzheimer Disease (LOAD) risk and prevalence differ by ancestral group. Furthermore, the frequency of APOE-4 and its effect size on LOAD risk also differ by ancestry group. If these patterns are a function of evolutionary history, we may find ancestry group-specific evidence of recent selection at the APOE locus or APOE eQTLs.

Background: Mental disorders have been linked to an increased risk of developing dementia including Alzheimer's disease. However, previous studies have typically focused on individuals who meet diagnostic criteria for a given psychiatric disorder. The goal of our study was to examine whether diverse neuropsychiatric symptoms are related to early markers of neurodegeneration in the general population.
