Objective: To systematically evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) for gastric atrophy (GA) and gastric intestinal metaplasia (GIM).
Methods: Literature search was performed in PubMed and the Cochrane Library for CLE, GA and GIM. The sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) in diagnosing GA and GIM were pooled for analysis. A summary receiver operating curve (SROC) was documented and the area under the curve was calculated.
Results: Of the 10 studies included in this current analysis, the pooled sensitivity, specificity and DOR of CLE to diagnose GA and GIM were found to be 88%, 98% and 330.85, and 93%, 98% and 439.97, respectively. The area under the SROC were 0.9491 and 0.9812 for the diagnosis of GA and GIM, respectively. Higher sensitivity and specificity of this technique in diagnosing GA and GIM were found in patients without representative disease spectrum and those received pCLE by subgroup analysis.
Conclusion: CLE is of great value and may be considered an alternative modality for the early diagnosis of GA and GIM.

Self-supervised learning (SSL) has gained attention in the medical field as a deep learning approach utilizing unlabeled data. The Jigsaw puzzle task in SSL enables models to learn both features of images and the positional relationships within images. In breast cancer diagnosis, radiologists evaluate not only lesion-specific features but also the surrounding breast structures.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the possibility of defining new imaging criteria to predict less-invasive clinical (c)-stage IA2-IA3 solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma using the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) as the cutoff value.
Methods: Consecutive 364 patients who underwent anatomical resection with mediastinal lymphadenectomy and positron emission tomography for c-stage IA2-IA3 solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma with a tumor diameter < 3 cm were retrospectively evaluated. Less-invasive cancer was defined as the absence of nodal involvement, lymphovascular or pleural invasion, or spread through air spaces.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a prevalent cancer that significantly contributes to mortality globally, primarily due to its late diagnosis. Early detection is crucial yet challenging. This study leverages the potential of deep learning (DL) technologies, employing the You Only Look Once (YOLO) architecture, to enhance the detection of HCC in computed tomography (CT) images, aiming to improve early diagnosis and thereby patient outcomes.

Introduction: Amblyopia, the leading cause of monocular childhood vision loss, affects millions and is projected to increase. Early detection and treatment are crucial for preventing vision impairment.
Areas Covered: This commentary reviews the current state and opportunities for improvement in amblyopia screening strategy and technology focused primarily within the United States.
Unlabelled: Neonatal screening has been implemented internationally with different protocols and has become the routine method in the preclinical stage. Late diagnosis is associated with more severe symptoms with decreased survival and higher treatment costs.
Objectives: To estimate the incidence of cystic fibrosis; to evaluate the performance of the screening algorithms Immunoreactive Trypsinogen and Pancreatitis-Associated Protein (IRT/PAP) and the IRTxPAP product; to analyze the cut-off value for IRT, PAP, and IRTxPAP, and to establish a methodology for its ongoing evaluation; finally, to evaluate the quality of IRT and PAP measurements.
