In this study, photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) were first harvested by MBR with pendulum type oscillation (PTO) hollow fiber module in succession and on a large scale. Based on unique properties of PSB, PSB/MBR was successfully applied for high-salinity wastewater treatment. Compared with control PSB-MBR (CMBR), PSB/PTO-MBR exhibited more excellent organics removal, which was mainly attributed to much higher biomass production for utilization. Meanwhile, the influence of light irradiation and aeration on activity of PSB was investigated in detail. Results showed that PTO-MBR with 12h light irradiation proved to be a promising and economical alternative. The cycle of dark/light and anoxic had a positive effect on PSB cultivating. Moreover, PTO-MBR exhibited much higher flux than CMBR even if large amounts of biomass existed, which demonstrated that the strong shear stress on interface of liquid-membrane played important roles on membrane fouling reduction.

Plants, algae and photosynthetic bacteria convert light into chemical energy by means of photosynthesis, thus providing food and energy for most organisms on Earth. Photosynthetic pigments, including chlorophylls (Chls) and carotenoids, are essential components that absorb the light energy necessary to drive electron transport in photosynthesis. The biosynthesis of Chl shares several steps in common with the biosynthesis of other tetrapyrroles, including siroheme, heme and phycobilins.

Since photosynthesis is highly sensitive to salinity stress, remote sensing of photosynthetic status is useful for detecting salinity stress during the selection and breeding of salinity-tolerant plants. To do so, photochemical reflectance index (PRI) is a potential measure to detect conversion of the xanthophyll cycle in photosystem II. Raphanus sativus var.

The lactic acid bacterial (LAB) species have proven multifaceted roles in sustainable agriculture due to their biologically safe nature, making them eco-friendly. However, their plant growth-improving mechanisms in stressed and non-stressed conditions are still under consideration. Thus, the current work has been planned to evaluate the drought tolerance potential and plant growth-promoting (PGP) traits of Loigolactobacillus coryniformis BCH-4 in Zea mays L.

Agricultural growers worldwide face significant challenges in promoting plant growth. This research introduces a green strategy utilizing nanomaterials to enhance crop production. While high concentrations of nanomaterials are known to be hazardous to plants, this study demonstrates that low doses of biologically synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) can serve as an effective regulatory tool to boost plant growth.
