In this report, we successfully engineered a novel probe based on an acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) architecture featuring dicyanovinyl-substituted thieno[3,2-]thiophene, termed DCVTT. The designed probe self-assembles into luminous nanoparticles (DCVTT NPs) upon introducing mixed aqueous solutions. These fluorescent nanostructures served as a ratiometric probe for detecting cyanide (CN) ions in aqueous-based environments, owing to the robust Intramolecular Charge Transfer (ICT) characteristics of DCVTT.

Most polyphenols are glycosylated, affecting their uptake, metabolism, and biological activity. However, the attached sugar must be removed before absorption and functionality can take place. Yet, despite the biological and chemical implications of polyphenol (de-)glycosylation, most in vitro digestion assays omit the utilization of intestinal brush border α- and/or β-glycosidases to study polyphenol bioaccessibility and deglycosylation.

Background: Traditional screening methods, such as 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) and Holter monitors, often fall short in detecting transient arrhythmias. However, advancements in wearable technology, like the Apple Watch®, enable real-time rhythm monitoring and specific arrhythmia detection through dedicated algorithms.
Case Description: A 60-year-old man with a history of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), during a walk, experienced palpitations and dizziness; the Apple Watch® alerted him of an elevated heart rate.
