Purpose: To examine whether butyroyloxymethyl-diethyl phosphate (AN-7), a histone deacetylase inhibitor, inhibits chemically induced corneal neovascularization (NV) in mice.
Methods: Corneal NV was induced in the right eye of male C57BL mice by application of a mixture of 75% silver nitrate and 25% potassium nitrate to the corneal center. Immediately thereafter, the mice were randomized into 2 groups, receiving an intraperitoneal injection of AN-7 or saline, which served as control. Corneal NV was evaluated at constant time intervals from the corneal injury by corneal photographs and the area of corneal NV was measured. Centricity and density of the corneal vascularization were graded. Corneal flat mounts blood vessels staining and histological studies were performed on day 10. Unpaired t-test was used for group comparisons.
Results: The corneal neovascular area was statistically significantly reduced by AN-7 treatment on days 10 and 14 postinjury and compared with the untreated group. The centricity and density of the corneal NV between treated and untreated groups showed no significant difference at any time point.
Conclusions: Systemic treatment with AN-7 had a significant inhibitory effect on chemical burn-induced corneal NV in mice. These results suggest that AN-7 should be further evaluated for its therapeutic potential for the treatment of corneal NV.

This prospective cohort study is aimed to investigate circadian variations in corneal parameters, focusing on sleep-deprived subjects. Sixty-four healthy individuals (age range: 21-76 years) actively participated in this study, undergoing examinations at least five times within a 24-hour timeframe. The analysis encompassed keratometric parameters of the cornea's front (F) and back (B) surfaces, refractive power in flattest and steepest axes (K1, K2), astigmatism (Astig) and its axis (Axis), aspheric coefficient (Asph), corneal pachymetry values of thinnest corneal thickness (Pachy Min) and corneal thickness in the center of the pupil (Pachy Pupil), volume relative to the 3 and 10 mm corneal diagonal (Vol D3, Vol D10) and surface variance index (ISV).

Introduction: This study compared the clinical outcomes of allogenic cultured limbal epithelial transplantation (ACLET) and cultivated oral mucosal epithelial transplantation (COMET) in the management of limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD).
Methods: Forty-one COMET procedures in 40 eyes and 69 ACLET procedures in 54 eyes were performed in the Corneoplastic Unit of Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. Data were examined for demographics, indications, ocular surface stability, absence of epithelial defect, ocular surface inflammation, visual outcomes, and intra- and postoperative complications.

To develop an atrophic Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) animal model via liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, the eyelid edges of C57 mice exposure to liquid nitrogen for 30 s. Morphology of MG and ocular surface were assessed using stereomicroscopy and a slit lamp microscope at multiple time points post-injury. Acinar loss and atrophy were observed from day 7, with increased inflammation and apoptosis, and decreased proliferation in acinar cells.

Objective: This investigation aimed to compare MMP-9 levels and ocular surface parameters in diabetic patients with and without DED.

Objective: To investigate changes in corneal astigmatism (curvatures and corneal sagittal height difference (C-sagDiff) at 8-mm chord) after temporary discontinuation from long-term spherical and toric orthokeratology (ortho-k) lens wear in a Chinese population.
Methods: Relevant data were retrieved from 110 patients (55 wearing spherical ortho-k lenses, 55 wearing toric ortho-k lenses) who have been undergoing ortho-k treatment for at least one year and stopped lens wear temporarily for scheduled lens replacement. The topographic and refraction data at baseline and post-discontinuation was collected for all the patients.
