Genomic biomarkers of survival in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer undergoing intensified androgen deprivation therapy.

Prostate Cancer Prostatic Dis

January 2025

Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, USA.

Introduction: Androgen deprivation therapy intensification (ADTi) with androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPI), docetaxel or both has been shown to improve survival outcomes in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). Currently, baseline tumor genomic markers have no role in clinical decision-making in patients with mHSPC.

Methods: In this IRB-approved retrospective study, patients diagnosed with mHSPC who underwent comprehensive genomic profiling from primary tissue or metastatic sites and treated with ADTi were included.

Knee kinematics during gait in patients with discoid lateral meniscus: a systematic review.

Minerva Pediatr (Torino)

January 2025

Transalpine Center of Pediatric Sports Medicine and Surgery, University of Milano-Bicocca, Monza, Monza-Brianza, Italy.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the difference between symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) and healthy knees in terms of gait analysis.

Evidence Acquisition: A systematic review was conducted from the electronic databases PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE and Scopus. The review was performed on studies that reported data on kinematics, gait analysis, biomechanics in discoid lateral meniscus, before and after surgery.

Background: Improved diagnostic testing (DT) of infections may optimize outcomes for solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR), but a comprehensive analysis is lacking.

Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review across multiple databases, including EMBASE and MEDLINE(R), of studies published between 1 January 2012-11 June 2022, to examine the evidence behind DT in SOTR. Eligibility criteria included the use of conventional diagnostic methods (culture, biomarkers, directed-polymerase chain reaction [PCR]) or advanced molecular diagnostics (broad-range PCR, metagenomics) to diagnose infections in hospitalized SOTR.

Background: Heart failure (HF) patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) often face high short-term mortality rates. This study aims to investigate the relationship between lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels and all-cause mortality in critically ill patients with HF.

Methods: Data from the MIMIC-IV database were extracted for subjects eligible for HF diagnosis.
