The general goals of medical management of vitiligo are to repigment vitiliginous areas of skin and to stabilize the progression of depigmentation. However, for some patients with vitiligo affecting extensive body surface areas who are unresponsive to repigmentation therapies, depigmentation of the remaining normal skin may be a better choice. Candidates for depigmentation therapy should be carefully screened and patient education is essential. Permanent topical therapies used for depigmentation include monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone, 4-methoxyphenol, and 88% phenol. Physical modalities, such as cryotherapy and lasers, are also being used successfully.

This study aimed at comparing gingival depigmentation by locally injected vitamin C with surgical depigmentation, in terms of effectiveness and patient acceptability. Forty-two patients presenting with ethnicity-related hyperpigmentation were randomly divided into two groups, Group I ( = 21) was treated with locally injected vitamin C and Group II ( = 21) was treated by surgical depigmentation. The outcome was assessed using Gingival Pigmentation Index (GPI) and Skin Hyperpigmentation Index (SHI).

Burn scars present psychological and social challenges for patients, classified into atrophic and hypertrophic types. Treatments like corticosteroid injections, laser therapy, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are commonly recommended for hypertrophic scars, while regenerative medicine and fractional CO2 lasers are linked to some degree of improvement for atrophic scars. Hypopigmented and depigmented burn scars pose ongoing challenges for healthcare providers and patients, with therapies such as intense pulsed light and fractional CO2 laser showing variable effects in treating these conditions.

Vitiligo-like hypopigmentation induced by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has been largely associated with improved survival outcomes in metastatic melanoma. However, its development during adjuvant ICI therapy and its role as a prognostic factor in this setting remain unclear. We aimed to describe ICI-induced vitiligo in a cohort of patients with resected stage III melanoma treated with adjuvant ICI and to identify differences in progression-free survival (PFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) between those who developed vitiligo and those who did not.

: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of low vision and legal blindness in adults in developed countries. Wet AMD can be successfully treated using vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors; however, dry AMD currently has no effective treatment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the efficacy of intraocular injection of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) in an AMD mouse model induced by intraperitoneal administration of sodium iodate.

Rhinophyma, a severe manifestation of rosacea, predominantly affects Caucasian males aged 50-70 and is characterized by thickening and enlargement of the nasal skin. The condition can seriously both impact cosmetic appearance and obstruct nasal breathing. While its appearance is distinct, conditions such as basal cell carcinoma can mimic it, complicating diagnosis.
