Unlabelled: A 79-year-old woman was diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the left hip and scheduled for total hip arthroplasty. As two lesions were detected in branches of the coronary arteries, she was treated with catheter treatment. The patient was receiving anticoagulant treatment, which was suspended eight days before the operation; however, heparin was started at 6 days before the operation and was stopped 9 hours before the operation. On the 2nd postoperative day soon after transfer to the wheel chair, she was feeling unwell and was suffering from severe pain in her left buttock and left thigh. Her blood pressure had decreased to 70 mmHg. During abdominal contrast-enhanced CT, a hematoma was detected in the left iliopsoas muscle. Catheter therapy was started by the cardiovascular department and bleeding had stopped spontaneously. The patient was able to walk with a cane and was discharged on the 40th postoperative day.
Abbreviations: THA: total hip arthroplasty, CT: computed tomography, JOA score: Japanese Orthopaedic Association hip score, HA: hydroxyapatite, PMMA: polymethyl-methacrylate, APTT: activated partial thromboplastin time.

Background: Primary hypothyroidism (PH) is a common chronic life style disorder. Whole system Ayurveda protocol on PH (WSAPH) is explored for it's possible complimentary role in the management of suboptimal controlled PH on stable levothyroxine therapy.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of whole system Ayurveda protocol on Primary hypothyroidism with suboptimal response to stable levothyroxine therapy.

This study aims to provide an initial database to gain more detailed knowledge of the trabecular and cortical bone structure of pelvic and femur bones in cats and smaller dogs. Additionally, the bony microarchitecture between cats and smaller dogs was compared to identify possible differences between those species. These findings could potentially improve the development of non-cemented total hip replacement (THR).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlations between areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and body composition measured by two dual-energy X-ray absorptiometers (DXA), the DMS Stratos® (STR) and the Hologic Horizon A® (HRZ), and then generate cross-calibration equations between the two scanners.
Methods: Repeat scans were obtained from 251 adults (85 % female), 36 ± 14 years old with mean body mass index (BMI) of 28.7 ± 11.

Background: Studies have shown an association between a reported penicillin allergy and an increased risk of surgical site infection. The risk is due to avoidance of cephalosporins and to the use of alternative classes of antibiotics in surgical prophylaxis. The aim of this study was to examine the safety of using cephalosporins in patients with a penicillin allergy label.

Introduction: Total joint arthroplasties generally achieve good outcomes, but chronic pain and disability are a significant burden after these interventions. Acknowledging relevant risk factors can inform preventive strategies. This study aimed to identify chronic pain profiles 6 months after arthroplasty using the ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases) classification and to find pre and postsurgical predictors of these profiles.
