Aims: The development of lumbar lordosis has been traditionally examined using angular measurements of the spine to reflect its shape. While studies agree regarding the increase in the angles during growth, the growth rate is understudied, and sexual dimorphism is debated. In this study, we used a novel method to estimate the shape of the lumbar curve (LC) using the landmark-based geometric morphometric method to explore changes in LC during growth, examine the effect of size and sex on LC shape, and examine the associations between angular measurements and shape.

Unlabelled: Metabolomics extensively utilizes Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy due to its excellent reproducibility and high throughput. Both one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) NMR spectra provide crucial information for metabolite annotation and quantification, yet present complex overlapping patterns which may require sophisticated machine learning algorithms to decipher. Unfortunately, the limited availability of labeled spectra can hamper application of machine learning, especially deep learning algorithms which require large amounts of labelled data.

Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is relatively rare, and the specific mechanism is still unclear. The previous infection, surgery, and medication use may have contributed to the occurrence of GBS. The use of bortezomib in patients with MM can easily lead to peripheral neuropathy, which is similar to the symptoms of GBS, making it challenging to diagnose GBS.

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition characterized by significant sensory, motor, and autonomic dysfunction, often following trauma or nerve injury. Historically known as causalgia and reflex sympathetic dystrophy, CRPS manifests as severe, disproportionate pain, often accompanied by hyperalgesia, allodynia, trophic changes, and motor impairments. Classified into type I (without nerve injury) and type II (associated with nerve damage), CRPS exhibits a complex pathophysiology involving peripheral and central sensitization, neurogenic inflammation, maladaptive brain plasticity, and potential autoimmune and psychological influences.

Background: Tropical Candida spondylitis is an uncommon cause of lower back pain in patients, especially in non-tropical areas or in patients not at risk of immunocompromise.
Case Presentation: A 65-year-old woman presented with a six-month history of poorly managed low back pain, now accompanied by numbness and pain in both lower extremities. Her medical history was significant for tertiary hypertension.
