Introduction: Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) is a rare pancreatic tumor typically occurring in young females. This case presents an instance of SPN in a 54-year-old Caucasian female, highlighting atypical age of onset and providing new insights into the tumor's clinical and histopathological diversity.

Case Report: A 54-year-old female with no significant past medical history presented with upper abdominal discomfort and weakness.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates how F-FDG-PET/CT imaging combined with clinicopathological factors can help differentiate between primary lung cancer (PLC) and breast cancer metastasis (BCM) in patients with solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) following breast cancer treatment.* -
  • It involved 120 breast cancer patients, comparing clinicopathological characteristics and imaging features to identify significant differences, particularly in tumor markers and metabolic activities related to SPNs.* -
  • Key findings suggest that certain imaging features and serum markers, like SUV and specific signs on CT scans, are predictive factors that can aid in accurately diagnosing SPNs in this patient population.*

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) are uncommon pancreatic tumors that primarily affect young females. We report a case of a 24-year-old female diagnosed with SPN and liver metastasis during a routine examination. Imaging revealed an 8-cm pancreatic mass with multiple liver metastases.

Objective: To investigate the value and applicability of F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) radiomics in differentiating primary lung cancer (PLC) from solitary lung metastasis (SLM) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC).

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 103 patients with CRC and solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) was used to screen for optimal radiomics features and establish a PET/CT radiomics model.

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas with hepatic metastases: problems and strategies.

Front Oncol

July 2024

Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, General Surgery Center, the First Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, China.

Background: Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the pancreas with hepatic metastases are infrequent and difficult to diagnose, and treatment is uncertain.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of clinical data from patients with pancreatic solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) hepatic metastases who underwent surgery at the First Hospital of Jilin University from January 2005 to December 2021 was conducted. A total of 287 patients with SPN were included in the study, of which 8 (3%) developed liver metastases, all of whom were treated surgically and recovered well after surgery.
