The serum hormone concentrations were studied in a group of male F1 (C57BL/6×DBA/2) mice in different states of food activity (satiety, 24-h food deprivation, and cognitive load against the background of food deprivation). The hormonal response depended on food activity: the content of leptin, triiodothyronine, and testosterone decreased in hungry animals, while during cognitive load (learning), we observed a decrease in the concentrations of ghrelin, leptin, thyroxine, and testosterone. The exceptions were neuropeptide Y (its concentration increased in hungry animals) and corticosterone (its level remained unchanged).

Agrochemicals represent a significant class of endocrine disrupting chemicals that humans and animals around the world are exposed to constantly. Agrochemicals can act as endocrine disrupting chemicals through a variety of mechanisms. Recent studies have shown that several mechanisms of action involve the ability of agrochemicals to mimic the interaction of endogenous hormones with nuclear receptors such as estrogen receptors, androgen receptors, peroxisome proliferator activated receptors, the aryl hydrocarbon receptor, and thyroid hormone receptors.

Identifying sites of protein-ligand interaction is important for structure-based drug discovery and understanding protein structure-function relationships. Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a useful tool for identifying residues covalently modified by ligands. Current methods use database searches that are dependent on acquiring interpretable fragmentation spectra (MS2) of peptide-ligand adducts.

The nigrostriatal dopamine system comprises the dopaminergic neurons located in the ventral midbrain, their axonal connections to the forebrain, and their direct cellular target cells in the striatal complex, i.e. GABAergic neurons.

To provide a more systematic analysis of this interaction, the present study employed a variety of techniques, including in situ hybridization to measure NPY gene expression, radioimmunoassay to examine peptide levels and radioligand [125I]peptide YY (PYY) binding for analysis of peptide receptors. The results show that adrenalectomy (ADX), which caused a decline in CORT to levels < 0.
