Effective care coordination across the women's health continuum is critically important. Unlike obstetric care, which tends to be more episodic and limited to pregnant and postpartum women, women receive health care, whether around pregnancy or for nonobstetric issues, in a variety of care settings by members of multiple health disciplines. Having access to standardized clinical data is imperative to providing optimal patient care. The reVITALize Gynecology Data Definitions Initiative leads a national multidisciplinary movement to offer standard gynecologic data definitions for use in written and verbal clinical communication, electronic health record data capture, quality improvement, and clinical research.

Background/objectives: Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) is a constellation of serious multi-organ birth defects following rubella virus infection during early pregnancy. Countries in which rubella vaccination has not yet been introduced can have a high burden of this disease. Data on CRS burden and epidemiology are needed to guide the introduction of a rubella vaccine and monitor progress for rubella elimination, but the multi-system nature of CRS manifestations and required specialized testing creates a challenge for conducting CRS surveillance in developing settings such as Sudan.

Vertex-Oriented Method for Polyhedral Reconstruction of 3D Buildings Using OpenStreetMap.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Computer Science, Universidad de Alcalá, 28805 Alcalá de Henares, Spain.

This work presents the mathematical definition and programming considerations of an efficient geometric algorithm used to add roofs to polyhedral 3D building models obtained from OpenStreetMap. The algorithm covers numerous roof shapes, including some well-defined shapes that lack an explicit reconstruction theory. These shapes include gabled, hipped, pyramidal, skillion, half-hipped, gambrel, and mansard.

Background: The development of long-acting products of a characterized drug substance is of great interest. It is possible to support the development of these products with available clinical data by matching the exposure to a predefined bracket of a minimal concentration for efficacy and a maximal concentration for safety. This bracketing approach would cut down on the time and cost of new long-acting contraceptive products progressing to market.

: The fourth universal definition of myocardial infarction (MI) introduced the differentiation of acute myocardial injury from MI. In this study, we developed a computational phenotype for distinct identification of acute myocardial injury and MI within electronic medical records (EMRs). : Two cohorts were used from a Calgary-wide EMR system: a chart review of 3042 randomly selected inpatients from Dec 2014 to Jun 2015; and 11,685 episodes of care that included cardiac catheterization from Jan 2013 to Apr 2017.

(1) Background: Periodontal disease, a progressive inflammatory condition, disrupts the oral microbiome and releases inflammatory cytokines, leading to systemic issues, including cognitive decline. This study investigates the association between severe periodontitis and cognitive decline, exploring the role of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), an enzyme linked to systemic inflammation, as an effect modifier. (2) Methods: We analyzed cross-sectional data from the 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
